I sat there silently in Physics trying to pay attention to what the teacher was saying, but this annoying girl kept poking me.
"Devin" she said. She was a gossiper so I wanted to ignore her.
"WHAT" i said. "Did you hear about Isaac" she giggled. "Isaac Newton?" I questioned. "Eww no. Who is that guy anyways..." "Oh, he is a famous person from history tha-" she cut me off. "No more nerd stories, back on topic. Isaac had a sleepover with all of his friends, and" she did a little dance. "And what" i said. "and he said his friends dared him something that has to do with a girl" she let out a shreik and was silenced by the teacher.
"Who cares" i said as I went back to my work.
"Ugh, nevermind, you wouldn't understand, you are a geek and I obviously dont speak geek language." she said in a snotty voice.
Yes, I did wear the sweater vest, plaid skirt, nerd glasses and pigtails, but no one has the right to brand me as a geek.
Okay maybe they do... but thats not the point.
I just need to ignore them and get on with my life.
I plan to go to college, meet a nice boy, get a good job, and have a family.
But right now I focused on getting through today.
And lucky me, The last three periods of the day I have with Isaac. Woo hoo.
Lord help me.
I made it through lunch okay. I just sat at the geek table with random people. Nobody talked to me, thank goodness.
Now I have double Algebra then History. Then I'm free... for the next two days. Then its back to this prison.
You'd think that I'd like school, well I do, except for the other people in my classes part.
I've asked my parents if I could be homeschooled, but they said no.
During the first period of Algebra I sat thinking about what I was gonna do this weekend. I heard that Penny is having a party... But I never go to those. Appearently I'm too geeky.
I sighed knowing I would never be one of the popular kids, I was always gonna be the misfit loser.
Or so I thought.
Sixth period passed by and before I knew it so had seventh.
I headed back to my locker and entered the combination.
38-45-1 and my locker popped opened.
I put my algebra stuff away, plucked my thick history book and a notebook, and I was headed arcossed the school to Ms.Nors' History class. Until I realized I forgot a pencil.
Why am I so stupid.
I just hoped we weren't writing today.
Well turns out we were. With a pen. Which I also forgot.
I raised my hand.
"Ms.Nors, uhm I-I don't-t have a p-p-pen" I said in a shaky voice.
Ms.Nors is the most strict teacher in this school, no wonder she was still single.
Luckily she felt like being nice today.
"Okay, does anyone have a pen Ms.Rains can borrow?" she yelled.
To my dismay, Isaac raised his hand.
"Okay Isaac, give her the pen."
He handed it to me and I barely latched on to it.
I opened it up and there was a note inside the cap.
Holy crap. Holy crap. HOLY CRAP.
I unfolded it carefully and silently read it.
Devin, meet me by the flagpole after school. Isaac ♥ ;)
Uh oh. Something tells me this isn't right.
Why a heart? and a winky face?
whatever, I'll do what he says. If I don't it'll probably end in public humiliation.
*****
The bell just rung and I am shaking like a shaved dog in winter.
I shakily opened my locker and put my homework in my oversized pink butterfly and heart backpack from first grade that my mother never cared to throw away.
She practically forced me to use it.
My life sucks.
I slowly went to the flagpole and moments later Isaac came.
"Uhm, I'll have to make this fast because I don't want to be seen talking to a geek." he said.
"Nice ti know you're a jerk still" i mumbled somehow finding confidence.
He pretended to not notice.
"So my friends dared me to transform you into the most popular girl in school. Now we both know that that is going to be one hard task. But I can't look like a wimp, so I have to do it."
Seriously. I was half happy, half hurt.
"So I'll come by your house later to give you your first lesson. Give me your address and locker number so I can tell you when our next lesson is." he said.
"Why didn't you ask for a phone number" I asked while scribbling my address.
"cause I know you don't have a cellphone" he said.
"How would you know that?" i asked.
"Cause geeks don't have cellphones" he stated as if it was obvious.
Great, I'm working with a jerk to improve my poplarity.
Since when was I this desperate?
appearently since right now...
okay so that was the prolouge to my new series! and book.
I hope you like it!
I will post one chapter of Differences and Ballpark Love, then those books will go on hold until I finish this book.
Thanks for reading dreamcatchers!
