I jolted out of my slumber as the alarm blared in my ear almost giving me a heart attack. I groan as I slammed my hands down on the snooze button on my alarm. I wiped the sweat rolling down my face reminding me of the usual horrific nightmare. I roll over and lay in bed for a few minutes thinking about life.
Life; its pretty unexpected. It can take any turn any moment. One minute your happy as you can ever be while in the next moment your going through hell. Some events patches a deep scar that leaves a huge impact in our life's - I'm cut off with my thinking by Alex,my elder brother shouting from the other side of the door for me to wake up. I shake my head trying to get rid of the lamentable memories. 'He's gone' I think sadly. I get up hoping not to burst in tears and stroll towards my ensuite bathroom to freshen up. After showering and brushing my teeth, I step out of the bathroom when my gaze fell to the suite case laying near the door. As my senior year of high school ended and currently its my second day of vacation, my parents decided to take a break from all the drama going on in our life and head over to Simi Valley; a small town in California to spent our vacations. We will be living with uncle Mark and his family, who live there. My parents thought it will be a good distraction for me.
Sighing deeply, I head over to my walk in closet choosing a decent outfit for traveling. As its summer, it will be hot in California , I decide on a deep blue colored summer dress which is a deep blue tank top stitched with a white polka dot chiffon skirt flowing till my mid thigh.

I then plug in my straighter and straighten my ombre hair and tie it into a high ponytail. Deciding to keep my face make up free, I head downstairs into the kitchen. "Morning mum and dad" I greet my parents. My mum who was busy near the stove making breakfast looks over to me and greets me with a gentle smile. "Good Morning Lexi" she says "Morning pumpkin. You ready for the vacation?" my dad asks sipping on his usual black coffee "Yeah dad" I say with a tired sigh "What no good morning for me baby sis?" Alex teases me. Alex is a year older then me. He took an year off from studies after graduating so he will be starting college with me. "Nope no good morning for old and annoying siblings" I say childishly sticking my tongue out at him. "Hey" my brother complains at the same time my elder sister says "I am not old Lexi and here I thought I was your favorite sibling." My elder sister, Laura says. "Keep on dreaming Lau" my brother says rolling his eyes "How mature of you two" I tease them And in reply both stick their tongue out at me. "OK you three stop it. Eat your breakfast then go to rooms and pack your bags and everything once more for safety and Alex help your sisters with their luggage. We leave till 3" "OK mum" we reply in unison "Hey Lexi when are Armenia and Sally coming?" Laura asks taking a bite of her waffles. "They will drop in by 2. Sally will be picking Armenia. And will leave her car in our garage." I reply
Armenia is my best friend. She is really bubbly and pretty with her long straight dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. As her parents are rarely home and always on business trips, she is coming with us. Sally is my other best friend. She is the nerdy and shy type. But really pretty with her petite figure, long black hair and grey eyes. Her parents died when she was very young so she and her older twin brothers live with their aunt. We practically begged her aunt to allow her to travel with us and in the end she allowed her on promise to call her brothers everyday.
We three make our little group. We are bestfriends since elementary school. They are the best friends one could ask for. They stayed by my side through my hard time of life and always had my back.
My sister seeing my face as if she knew i was thinking about those memories, gently grabbed my hand and squeezed it lightly and mouthed "Everything will get better" "I hope sis I hope " I thought Finishing up the rest of my pancakes, I grabbed the plate and placed it in the dishwasher before going upstairs into my room. Checking everything is packed,I glanced at the clock to see it was only 12pm. Let's watch a movie I decide. Taking out my laptop, I logged into net flex and started to watch hunger games; mokingjay part II. Time went by fast and as I was near the end of the movie,the door to my room burst open revealing my two best friends,who had an excited grin plastered on their face. They strolled in and collapsed on my bed both on each side of me "Our bags are in the living room and what are you doing?" Asked an excited looking Sally. "She's on net flex meaning either she's watching a movie or the rerun of gossip girls. Here's your answer" Answered a smug looking Armenia "Thank you captain obvious" I said sarcastically. After the movie ended,we talked for a bit and then went downstairs as it was 2:30. Till 6 we all were seated in the plane with our luggage loaded. "Hey wanna gossip?" Armenia asked from beside me. "Nah! I am gonna sleep for a while. Wake me up when we are about to land." I say to her "I hope this trip will help my Mind to divert of that night and will be a new start" were my last thoughts before I dozed off into the dream land.
