Jay.

A light red hue embraces the cold hallways as the shrill sound of the alarms echo through it, bouncing off the white walls and into my ears, like the undying screech of a Banshee going wild.

A feminine voice, monotone yet dripping with venom as if it was a snake instead of a person, speak from the intercom,

"Warning! I repeat, warning! Due to security breach, all known systems have been shut down. All accounts are currently undergoing maintenance, with contacts to resume after surveillance footage is reconciled. System reboot, expected within 24 hours;"

She pauses for a moment, and I could almost see the malicious grin on her lips when she continues, "WICKED is good."

"Subject A6 is on the loose, he is being assisted by Subject A2. Don't let them get to B13."

Adrenaline pumps through my veins, awakening the strength and agility that have been in a deep slumber 'til now.

Reaching a corner, I stop and turn to take a peek. But my heart drops at the sight in front of me; three muscular soldiers stand tall in front of a metal door. I knew that I wouldn't be able to stand a chance against them.

I think about surrendering, until I sees a blur of brown hair dashing towards the men, facing them head on.

It was Thomas. He manages to catch them in surprise and calls out to me, "Jojen, go! Type the code on the keypad and get inside! Hurry!"

My body obeys his command and springs into action, my foot almost slipping on the hard floor as I try to run faster.

The metal door feels cool against my skin and it slowly slides open, taking its precious time. But I don't have time.

I slip through the gaps and quickly scan the room, searching for the familiar dirty blonde hair and bright green eyes. It doesn't take me long, as I found myself staring into them.

I couldn't help but cry in relief and let my knees fall on the ground. I let the tears stream down my face as I cradle her cheeks in my cold hands, "I'm sorry, Kat! I'm really sorry."

I shake my head, "I didn't mean any of it, I swear. Your mom--She tricked me! I-I thought that I was saving you, she promised me that they wouldn't hurt you but then--"

To my surprise, she pulls away, confusion clouding her eyes. And then, it clicks. I was too late.

"I'm sorry," She pauses, peering into my eyes and asks, "Who are you?"

And my world came crashing apart.
