Have you ever felt whole? Like, at some stage in your life, in this unfair and cruel world, that you were just meant to be? That you belonged, that you had a connection to almost everything and almost everyone? Yeah. Almost.
I don't think I've had that, come to think of it, lying here in this mostly empty yard with overgrown weeds and weather-beaten boards; I've never had that.
You see, unlike Margo Roth Spiegelman of John Green's Paper Towns, my life is not a series of seriously epic adventures. In fact, it's a series of seriously taped boxes. Taped recycled boxes filled with reminders of what was, what could have been and furthermore outlining what is. Trophies, memorabilia, school photos and a vast amount of signed t-shirts shining the occasional light down memory lane.
Now, don't get me wrong, the stuff inside the boxes are pretty cool but not so much the "box" factor. You see, every time I look at boxes it reminds me of my family - my poor excuse for one, that is. My mother, Dorcas, of lo' these past 15 years is a Papua New Guinean that moved to America after meeting my non-existent father, Ryan, when he was training for the American Military in the Pacific. They had their little love story and a few years later came my older sister, Sylvia, and thereafter; yours truly. Ryan was apparently there when I was born, but didn't feel the need to stick around for the rest of our lives.
So that's me. Casey Stone, 15 years old, half of this, half of that, with no father, in a half-way house that's hardly home.
Then again, come to think of it; homes are overrated. We've moved from dwelling place to dwelling place so often and regularly, that I can't count the number of times on two hands. New Jersey four times, New York twice, all the way to Santa Monica for 6 months, L.A for a hot second and now, Utah. Of all the places on this damn planet, of the 9.8 million kilometers squared of this great country; Utah. Yee-fricking-haw.

Hey guys,
I'm kind of new to Wattpad but I really love writing & my love for reading is just through the roof. If you guys have any feedback or anything, just give me a shout out. It would be greatly appreciated. Descending is an original idea that I came up with after reading about undiscovered, native tribes in places such as the Amazon & Papua New Guinea. I hope that gives some insight to what the rest of the book is about. This is just a sample of the First Chapter & I really appreciate it if you're taking time out of your day to read something that I, an average teenager, has created.
Thank you for your time.
Solo.
