In the world we only regret the chances we didn't take, the mistakes we made; the choices we choose. There are a few things that are wrong with the people of this world but, what made it better was when one person made it their mission to not regret anything; to live their life to the fullest.
'The killer was an only child of her family. She was neglected by her mother and her father was a drunk. The poor child could never get any attention. She was lonely, desperate for love and that just fueled her passion to kill. This was what she had described to us in one letter. Full analysis on the paper: Nothing traced'
"The murderer is still out there and none of us still have no idea who the hell this is!" DI Meadows shouted at her team.
"God damn it!"
"Ma'am we have been trying to find as much evidence as we could but it's just impossible to find anything. This woman is untraceable!" The detectives and officers were getting frustrated by the minute but DI meadows had to stay calm. It was her mission to find this woman and bring her down.
"Okay guys thanks. You can go back to your stations now." Meadows sighed and started to rub her temples; a bad habit she had gotten into.
"Piper you really need to calm down. You know your men are doing as much as they can." Spoke Dave. He was the second DI on the case with Piper.
"I know Dave. I bloody know! It's just so damn frustrating how this woman can get away with what she has done!" Piper was now shaking with anger and her fists unclenched and clenched every now and then. Dave walked over to her and put his hand on her slim shoulder.
"Piper I think you need to eat something." Piper looked at his face disgusted that he said that to her but she knew deep down that she needed food. She hadn't eaten for two days and her stomach was now growling.
"Okay Dave but you're buying." She smiled. As did he. At least she was going to eat now.
They arrived at the closest costa and bought a sandwich and some coffee. Piper took large bites of her tuna and sweetcorn sandwich.
"I guess you really haven't eaten in ages then?" Asked Dave. The look of concern on his face was sincere. He cared for Piper but she never really saw it. Not even once, she was too stubborn for that and very dedicated to her work. As a child she was just like the killer. An only child and lonely but the difference between them was she became someone great and the other a psycho. Piper was always insecure and kept to herself but, the more she hung around Dave the more he broke down those walls. He was crawling into her bubble and she wasn't very fond of it. However, she couldn't stop it from happening. He was too good.
As they sat there eating, Piper's phone started to ring.
"DI Meadows speaking..." Dave watched as her face grew bitter. "On our way sir."
"There has been another murder. She left a note this time." Dave and Piper stood up quickly and wrapped their coats around them. The winter was in full bloom so snow and rain could hit them any minute now. As they ran to the car the sirens were put on instantly and they were off.
"What was the murder like this time then?" Dave asked as Piper drove speedily down the road.
"They wouldn't say. All they told me was to come to the scene as fast as I could." She drove even faster, nearly clipping a few side mirrors. The motorway was chocka and the only way for her to move was to blast the sirens. Piper was getting anxious as they got closer to the scene. The killer always left a lot of blood but recently she had started to leave messages and clues. Some things no one would know but, Piper would. They all seemed to target her in some way. This made her even more angry knowing that the killer could be someone she knows or someone she has encountered before. But she had to focus. This was something only she could solve.
As they got to the crime scene, Piper pulled up into a space and raced out the car. She showed her badge to be let under the tape and that's when she saw the worst crime the killer had done. To that day the killer was known as the Angel of death. There in the middle of the field sat a little girl with wings stabbed into her back making her look like an angel. She was laid flat on the ground with her eyes wide open. Her mouth was filled with blood as was her eyes. Another thing she took was different parts of the body. The poor girl was stabbed repeatedly into a cross. The killer never believed in the Bible but all of a sudden these holy symbols started to appear. She was trying to get a point across somehow.
"DI meadows? There was a letter here for you." Piper looked at the officer blankly and took the letter. As she rubbed her head, even harder this time, she nearly fell over. She felt giddy and was about to fall until she caught herself. When she composed herself she looked around to see if anyone noticed but luckily they didn't. Piper sighed and opened the letter to read what was inside.
'Dearest Piper, I know so much about you it's unreal but do you really know yourself. I've noticed the blackouts you nearly have and the all that rubbing you do. It must frustrate you to not know who did all these murders. I would be too if I couldn't figure it out. But I guess that's why we are so alike. Well see you next time sweetheart x'
Piper read the writing over and over again. She couldn't believe how well the killer knew her. As she looked around her she tried to spot anyone suspicious but she just couldn't do it. Everything was spinning around her and she couldn't figure it out.
"Show yourself. SHOW YOURSELF!" Piper shouted out to the crowd of people watching the scene unfold. The officers grew concerned for her but she was getting even more angry.
"Piper calm down. please it's me Dave." Piper turned to see David was holding onto her. She calmed a little and then she went back to her calm composure.
"Thanks." She brushed him of her and walked to the forensics.
"Check this please and then send it back to me." The guys nodded and Piper walked of to her car.
"Piper wait.. Are you okay?" Dave asked as he ran over.
"Just leave me alone Dave I need to solve this murder quick or die trying." Piper just continued to walk off into the distance as Dave watched. She was unstoppable and determined.
A small smirk was on their face. They knew it was all going to happen soon. "Oh sweet Piper. How much fun we will have."
