It was a bright, sunny day when James McAllister entered in my life. For ruining it.

Standing 6 feet tall, a 24/7 flashy grin on his face, with dimples emerging on both sides of his cheeks, James was that guy who could easily lure girls into his charming and alluring ways. Who wouldn't want to be around the school's quarterback? Who could deny those green puppy eyes anyway?

But being popular came with conditions. Partying all night, being infamous for getting detentions, the school's number one player; all these tags were hooked onto him, and everyone knew his ways. Even I did, but I chose to ignore them.

And so, when he invited me to his party, me-the typical front-bencher, bookworm and all those random words people used to describe me with, I was shocked. I never even imagined in my wildest dreams that 'Mr. Popular' would invite someone like me. As much as I didn't want to go, there was this bubbly little feeling erupting in my stomach. I had never been to a party before, the soul reason being that I always spent my time completing homework or babysitting my four year old step-brothers; I never had the time for all this shit. But right then, I really wanted to experience something new. And so I did.

The moment I entered the mansion-like house, I concluded at first sight, that I was heavily under-dressed.

And what was I wearing exactly? - A black hoodie with skinny jeans. No make-up, no accessories...and my hair was simply let loose; my brown curls set on my shoulders. As I made my way through horny teenagers and tipsy couples kissing their tongues out, I had totally expected one thing- getting harassed by the Queen Bee and her follower bitches. But what I totally didn't expect was said party host to come and save me from the embarrassment.

"Ignore Megan for awhile, she becomes a bitch when drunk" he chuckled.

"I don't mind, she's just being her usual self." I said while giving him a small smile. When he just smiled back and there was this awkward silence for 10 seconds, I further added

"Thanks though, I better be going now" I simply replied and turned around to avoid further conversation. But said guy's hands held my wrist.

"Wait, why are you leaving so early? We could...go upstairs and chill"

I looked up at him and raised my eye-brows, biting my cheeks from the inside to stop my mouth from opening in shock. I looked around to see whether anyone else had heard him or not. Thanks to the music blasting as loud as ever, everyone was preoccupied. Thank god.

"Chill?" He shrugged.

But that was followed by his sudden outburst. "Fuck fuck fuck, no I..I didn't mean that.... I don't wanna fuck around, just called you to the balcony for star-gazing.... No fucking involved." he replied all tensed up, and seeing James McAllister, getting nervous around the "nerd" I couldn't help but break a smile.

"Well, I don't have anything better to do so, maybe yea, let's go then?" He smirked and bent to whisper to my ear

"We'll have fun, I promise" he winked at me and I thanked the good lord that he had already started climbing the stairs. How would I explain this red creeping up my cheeks?

"I guess we will"

"Who would've thought, you were this interested in astronomy" I said while eyeing his Moon-viewer telescope.

We had already spent half an hour talking about the different constellations. But the topic quickly shifted to our daily lives and when he asked me about my family, I dodged the question and brought the topic back to astronomy.

"Yes, why would the school's fuck boy have an interest in things other than fu-"

I widened my eyes and interrupted, "I never meant that! It's just.." I said, looking straight into his eyes.."It's just that I've never seen you around the astronomy class. You could've joined it you know, it's real fun" I gave him a genuine smile.

His expressions suddenly softened, probably realizing that I hadn't been really mocking him.

"I'd better learn these few things on my own rather than spending my time in the Hickey's class" He grimaced. I bit my lip, but a giggle escaped my mouth anyway. Not only the senior classes, but the entire school knew Mr. Hicks as Hickey. Not a new thing, and actually not funny at all, but seeing James addressing him with such an expression just made me smile.

"Hmmm yeah. Well, tell me...." I said looking up to him again, "Why did you leave your own party just to give me company?" He looked at me for a moment, and when I was just about to grin in victory of leaving the James tongue-tied, he smoothly replied "It's your first time to my party, and as a good host, I just felt like entertaining my special guest"

And now it was him grinning like an idiot. I took a moment to think why he addressed me as 'special'; I even thought of asking him but his voice pulled me out of my thoughts-

"Well, I don't know about you, but I had fun today. It's been a long time since I've star-gazed with someone" He looked at the sky and I don't know why but watching his eyes sparkle as he admired them stars, I couldn't help but reply

"I had fun too".
