Rey steps outside to the cool dampened night, its air refreshing none to say the least. A slight breeze shakens up her hair but not in annoying way. Her a brown sparkling dress catching the light of the neon signs across her complex. "24 HOUR OPEN" She's spent countless nights walking across the street to that convenience store to buy booze and snacks.
A fat dark complexioned man named Hutt worked there, always saying she was his favorite and that she gets the good prices.
Brandos was only a couple blocks down the way. She believed it was next to a strip joint for X rated movies which made it an even more sleazy scene. Despite its location there was still youth that stopped by, some worth talking to even. She had only gone a few times but each time she went a part of her stayed. In a way it was a hell hole but had its quirks to it. Ignoring that one time she got assaulted. She got a few good punches in, so in the end it wasn't all that bad. Rey had a part of her that liked making things seem worse than they actually were, and when things were bad she had a way of making them seem not a big deal. So in this case Brandos wasn't a big deal.
As she turned a corner two couples were making out, each making an annoying smacking noises with their lips. The girls scarf wrapped around her and the lover she was with. It's been awhile since Rey had found any action. The last time was with Raja. A tan lover she had found one day at hipstery supermarket. Where the people all looked the same yet different at the same time. Faces blending in with each other. The girl turned her head to look at Rey. A giggled escaping from her red smeared lips. Rey walked quickly away from the awkward scene.
Even a couple blocks down she could hear the music. It shook the little windows on the old decaying brick buildings around her. The strip was littered with trash and a homeless man sat outside one of the flimsy X rated theaters. He held his head down, probably drunk off of whatever cheap liquor store booze. Lights on the second story building of the bar caught her eye. People milling around inside, some dancing. A bouncer stands outside soles of his feet bobbing up and down, trying to escape from the cold. His frame muscular and round, sporting a thick dark mustache, wearing cliché black beanie. He was watching the homeless man with keen eyes. He gives Rey a quick glance and nod of his meaty head. Rey gives a light nod back, offering him a slight smile that barely met her cheeks. "Busy night?" She asks.
"Always on a Friday. ID?" Rey takes out her wallet from her purse and presents a ID showing a younger version of her. In the photo her hair dyed a blonde. Back when she used to do that kind of stuff just to feel different. The bouncer stood there and studied the card a minute longer than needed, finally handing back her the card. Head tilting to the side signaling her to go on in, and so she did.
The Bar was the same as it had been the last time she visited. The same string light display, the same smoke filled air. People were back to back with one another, some holding drinks in their hands some talking with their hands. The place was compacted and she a hint of regret wearing a dress to place no one wore a dress. A party dress that is. Making her way to the bar she orders a drink. The bartender young and hot. He worked her with his smile, "What can I get you hun?" Rey liked when people called her hun. "Cranberry Vodka." Her voice struggling to make loud in the crowded room. "One Vodka cranberry coming right up." As Rey waited for her drink she took another look around the room. Everyone had someone to talk to. It was going to be hard to find someone to talk to in here. But maybe upstairs in the dance room she could make a move or even the smokers section outside. After her drink was handed to her, Rey made her way down to the smoking section. Something to get away from the blaring music and conversation of strangers. Opening up the heavy door almost made her spill her drink in the process. Once again outside but with a drink in hand, Rey smiled at the quick breeze that rolled by. Along with it came the smell of sweet majuanna. That's something she could get behind for the night. People outside took a quick one over of her and went about their conversations. Great I probably shouldn't have worn this dress. So with that thought she went to a table, sat down her drink and lit up a cigarette from her purse. Anything to fit in now. Inhaling the smoke came easy, She always kept a pack on her in case of moments like this and to be quite frank a smoke every now and then calmed her nerves. A tall man standing next to the table looked down at her, eyes glazed over almost.
"Bit cold for a dress? Just got done dancing?" Fuck you "Oh yeah, should have changed but the nights not over yet." Rey lied.
"Well cheers to that sista." The man raised his beer, Rey picks up her drink and cheers to the stranger.
"Names Poe, been here since ten and I don't think it's going to get any more exciting than a beautiful girl in a beautiful dress." Rey blushes and gives an awkward laugh.
"If that's exciting I feel kinda bad for you."
"Well humor me this a funny beautiful girl at that, you alone?"
"Yeah, friends went separate ways. No reason to waste a perfect night away." Another lie, she would rather be home than flirting with this guy. He was good looking and all, in fact the whole package, but if it came to her this easy it wasn't fun. She downs her vodka cranberry quickly, hoping to show him the kind of night she expected on having. Lots of booze and lots of sex.
"Well damn, you go hard don't you?"
"You could say that wanna find out?" Rey teetered.
"Wanna dance upstairs, or are you all danced out?"
"Never danced out, let's go."
