A Midnight Walk

I honestly don't care anymore.
You can try to convince me otherwise, but I would have to tell you that you're wasting  your time.  I've been gone for roughly an hour now, and I have no intentions to turn back now.  Parents, if anyone, should know that you can't just treat people like that.  I'm not going to let them treat people like that.  I've been forgotten.  They took care of their cat better than they took care of me.  After all, it's most likely the first thing that they'll notice is gone.

In my bag contained a few items to keep me alive for a few days before I can find a place to stay. A weeks worth of clothes, a few boxes of granola bars, a water bottle, flashlight, pocket knife, band aids, blanket, phone, and of course, my cat.  Her head poked out of the top of the bag, exited to be outside of the house for the first time.  I scratched her head and walked a bit faster, wanting to get as far away from the house as possible.

It felt like ages before we reached the city.  I made sure to avoid roads on my way here, mainly to avoid cop cars.  However, as soon as I passed into city limits, roads just about doubled.

Fantastic.

I ended up walking right up next to a street to make sure I would still be able to use the street lights to see.  I, of course, forgot to bring extra batteries for the flashlight, and I didn't want to burn the ones I have out on the first day.  I wasn't feeling like I could walk for much longer, but I kept going anyways.  I glanced down at my watch, 2:49.  I still had a few hours before sunrise.  I saw an alright place to sit down in the entry to an alley, so I took a break and let Marble out of my bag.  She leaped out excitedly, and I had to hold her to keep her from running off.  She insisted on trying to run, even though her feet were off the ground, so she just flailed around for a bit.  I smiled a bit, she was so happy that she could barely contain herself.  She eventually tired herself out, and just curled up in my lap.  She looked up at me with her bright green eyes and meowed.  I ran my hand over her back. It was so refreshing to be out of the house, out of my town, just away from everything I've seen before.
It was one of those times where everything seemed right with the world, but then I heard something.
It got closer and closer, until I could see what it was. A huge dog appeared around the corner and started barking. Marble leaped out of my lap and ran out into the street. I grabbed my stuff, shot up, and ran after her.
