Ava

Hello, my name is Ava. I'm seventeen and I've been living in an old, small house for about ten years now. You may think I'm crazy but, I've never seen the outside world in forever, I kinda forgot what it looks like to be honest. My parents say it's dangerous outside. I'm an only child so I really had no one to play with when I was younger and I was trapped inside a small house. It's very crowded in the house because it's so tiny. I'm very claustrophobic but I had to get over it, I really don't know how I did it though. My parents and I sleep in one little room on the floor. You could call us, well, poor but we used to live in a very nice house. We had to move out because somehow the house just collapsed. We had about thirty dollars left and that's how we bought this house. I used to have a phone and a tv but it was lost in that collapsed house, it probably broke so there was no reason to look for it, I got used to not having a phone or tv though. Oh and food. I've been starving for over a month now. There's nothing we can do about it. Everyday when I wake up, I think, I wonder if today is the day I'm gonna die. I rather die with my family than alone though.

So from what my mom has told me, apparently the outside world is horrible. There's people dying, there are no skyscrapers anymore, they either collapsed or burned down. Actually, all the people here are living like us. No food, no water, no bed, no electronics, nothing, except some clothes that I kept in my suitcase. We searched the collapsed house for something and that's how I found my clothes and suitcase and a backpack. My mom says there's a disease spreading and that's why she wants me in this house. That's all she told me.

Most seventeen year olds don't have a life like mine. My life is hell actually. But I've had to live like this for about two years now, except we actually had more food than we have now.

So yeah, I'm not allowed out but someday, someday, I am gonna get out there and explore everything. Find out what this is all about. I will figure this out.
