Beep beep beep! Maya still having her head in the pillow shut her alarm clock off. As much as Maya didn't want to get out of bed she had go to school. Maya walked out of bed to her calendar hanging on the walls. She grabbed a black sharpie and "X"ed out the square that said October 6. Her shoulders dropped. It's been a year since Maya's best friend Riley died. She committed suicide. Because her boyfriend, Farkle moved to California he got a early scowler ship to The University of California, her little brother Auggie was killed in a school shooting, and many other small reasons. Maya never liked remembering Riley's death. She grabbed the clothes on the side of the bed and put them on.Maya walked into the bathroom. She shivered as her bare feet touched the tile. Maya brushed her teeth and combed her hair. Her feet got used to the coldness of the tiles. Maya walked out of the bathroom and turned a corner to get to the kitchen. The lights were on and there was a bowel of cereal on the counter with a note. It said "Dear, Maya I am sorry baby girl I have a early shift today. Have fun at school!". Maya hated when her mom had early shifts but she got used to it. She wasn't hungry so she dumped her cereal in the garbage can and put the cereal bowl in the sink. Maya grabbed her bag and went to the bus stop. She waited 5 minutes for her bus to come. Soon a big yellow bus pulled in front of her. She walked to her normal seat in the back where no one can see her.
