"Let me buy you a drink."
I looked up from my charts. "I'm a very busy person. I don't have time for-"
"Trust me. Let me buy you a drink. If you don't have the smallest amount of fun, I won't bother you again. I'll let you get back to your, very busy lifestyle." He said, mocking me.
"No. Dr. Maccone-"
"Please, call me Cooper."
"Dr Maccone, I'm very busy here. Please stop wasting my time and leave, if you would."
"C'mon Elizabeth -"
"Dr. Hayford." I corrected him.
"Whatever you say Elizabeth ." he responded, playfully winking.
As I refocused myself, I couldn't help but think, he is cute. Immediately I disregarded my thought. I didn't have time for relationships or love. I needed to focus on my career, regardless of how charismatic Cooper Maccone could be.
After unsuccessfully trying to focus on anything but Dr. Maccone, I began to collect my things to go home. As I shut the door to my office, I was greeted by none other than Dr. Maccone.
"Let me buy you a drink" He said, as I pushed past him.
"Elizabeth , let me buy you a drink. I won't stop until you agree. If you don't have a good time, you will never be pestered by me again. Scouts promise." He propositioned, lying two fingers across his heart. A laugh escaped my lips.
"Scouts promise?" I mocked.
"And she laughs!" he exclaimed, "you should do that more often. It looks good on you."
"Do what?" I asked hesitantly.
"Laugh. You have a beautiful smile. I've been waiting a very long time to see you smile Elizabeth Hayford."
I gave him a skeptical look, "one drink. Nothing more."
"Just a drink."
"Just a drink." I repeated, unknowing to just how hard I would fall for Cooper Maccone.
Our first date, it was one of my favorite memories. Cooper was so charismatic, and I was so stubborn, determined not to fall for him. He was too good. He was so incredibly persistent, and I couldn't be more great full. If he had given up after the first few times I shot him down, I wouldn't have this. My life, my children, Cooper.
Our relationship, it wasn't always a fariytale. Sometimes it was hard, but we survived. We stuck together, through thick and thin, good times and bad, we made it through.
