Abby's mind had been reeling for the past two days of the implications of what had happened. She requested no visitors but had asked the doctor to keep everyone updated on her recovery. She wanted to be alone. She couldn't cry it was useless and she couldn't scream or smash things, this was a hospital.

On Tuesday she contacted Milan having learnt her mother was throwing a welcome home party for her after begging not too.

"I really don't want a stupid party." She stated as Milan laid in bed next to her.

"Well you know Athena is stubborn as hell.... Like her daughter." He said, tucking her ear behind her ear.

Abby pulled away slightly.

"Does it hurt?" He asks. Abby turned slightly and gave him a "duhh" look. "Well, you act so calm and composed as if nothing's wrong."

Abby smiled slightly. "Only a little... But its not the physical pain that bothers me." Abby quickly ran through the dreams she been having while she was in a coma.

"I'm sorry sweetie." Milan says.

Abby stared off into the distance, then said, "I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye." Then before he could reply she grinned up at him. "But that's in the past now."

"Abbigail. I know what you're doing."

"What?"

"You're shutting everything out, like you always do. Abby you were in a accident------"

"No I'm not." Abby rolled her eyes. "But I don't have time for regrets or self-recriminations. I am a strong person you knew that."

"Its okay be weak, Abbigail, to cry and be humane." He pressed softly. "You're acting all tough and manly but the second Nick laid eyes on that baby he lost all self control. Abby I watched that man sink to the floor with that baby in his arms and cried his soul out. Even at the funeral, infront of all those reporters and journalists and business partners, he cried. Now that's true strength."

"Everyone's different, Milan." Abby said with a sigh after a while.

"Exactly, we're not on one side of the tracks anymore, Abby."

"Great speech," she grinned up at him. "Did you rehearse it on your way here?"

Milan gave a short laugh. "I know how stubborn your ass is." He frowned down at her. "So whats the real reason for this hard exterior still?"

Abby said nothing for a minute. "How do I look?" Abby ran her fingers across the length of the scar that went from her temple to just behind her ear. Thank God they hadn't shaven off half that side of her hair

"We've seen worst," He smiles. "But I know its not really my opinion you're worried about."

Abby bit down on her bottom lip.
"I look like a freak, Milan," she blurted out. "I look like some patched up freak out of a horror movie. I got more scars on the outside now than I've carried with me for years!"

"Abbig------"

"I can't even use the bathroom properly much less on my own. I feel like a total stranger in my body, and I'm sick of all the formalities and pity....... Who's going to love someone like that."

Milan stared at her, then shook his head. "Abbigail you were in a car accident, not deformed, you lost your baby and were in a coma with fractured ribs, a broken arm and leg. Sure you may look like the wife of Frankenstein. But I know this crazy guy that slept by your side a month and some, that refused to eat or leave your room. So tell me Abby, who's gonna love a girl like you?"

The room fell quiet.

"He's hurting to, Abby. He feels like all of this is his fault and its killing him inside. Nick should be the one here, not me."

Milan kissed the top of her head.

The welcome home party was small, but even with friends and family Abby didn't seem comfortable. He knew she didn't want it and neither did he but Athena had insisted on it.

She hadn't said a word to him since she arrived, so he decided on giving her some time. Maybe after the party she'd be ready to talk with him.

She had spent ten minutes into the party before Milan helped her out on the patio. Nick followed.

"How are you feeling?" He spoke first.

"I'm good," she smiled a little, "The doctor said it'll take some getting used to too... But I don't want to get used to something like this."

"You know you can stay with me if you like," he offered lightly. "If you think you'll be comfortable enough plus Della is dieing to see you."

"Nick ... " Abby sighed. "I didn't want you to see me like this ... "

"Abbigail, I've been by your side since you were admitted to the hospital." With a frustrated sigh Nick ran his fingers through his hair. "I was on my way to jump on the first flight to look for you, I couldn't bear waiting around no more. Then I found you, in that hospital and I knew it was my fault. I was the one that let go."

"It wasn't your fault, don't think like that." Abby blurted out, then she frowned. "Nick, I came back for you. Didn't you get the messages I had left you?"

Nick frowned. "No... I had changed my phone some months aback."

"There I was sitting in this beautiful hotel room in Hawaii and I had turned on the TV. On the news, there were a car accident involving a grey Bentley, I thought it was yours. My heart shattered in fear, I couldn't loose you Nick." Abby fought back tears. "Then I found out it wasn't you and I was so relieved, and in that moment I knew had made a mistake. So i jumped the first flight back here to tell you that I'm sorry for hurting you and that I loved you so much. That I wanted to have your baby."

Nick sank to his knees and burried his head in her lap.

"My stupid mistake cost me our baby." Abby cried. "I was so angry that I had survived. I wanted to die."

Silence.

"Abbigail, I've loved you since the first day we met and you turned me down. I have loved you even when we hated each other. And I love you even more now. We've come a very long way, baby."

Abby gasped as she watched Nicki pulled a red velvet box from his pocket.

"I know things won't be easy for a while and I know some days you're going to give me hell. I know its gonna be a while before you consider having another baby........ But while we're waiting...... Abbigail, would you marry me?"

"YES!" Abby caressed his face with her good hand. "Yes. I love you, Nickel."

"I love you so much more, with all I am, Abbigail Williams."

Nick's lips met hers in a seal as they heard cheering and clapping. And he knew this was the start of a lifetime of happiness.
