I feel my body beginning to grow weaker, and I see the exact same happening to me. The pitch black substance was as thick as tar and felt cool and sluggish on my body. My stomach was beginning to hurt now and I tried to move to the living room, trying to see if my mother was the same but my feet were now glued to the floor.

The substance was beginning to spread faster and faster and I was beginning to lose mobility in my limbs. I grabbed my dad's already covered hand and I look at him, terrified. My dad's body was almost completely covered but he looked at me, tears in his eyes and he mouthed something.

"I love you."

That's when I lost him. His body was gone. He was dead. Tears welled up in my eyes and I stopped fighting. I could feel the tar crawling its way up my neck and onto my face. Things began to darken and my body tingled with pain. The last thing I heard was my little sister's terrified screams.

I didn't know what happened when the tar finally covered my eyes. I just remember the sound of people walked in and out of the room. It sounded like heaps of people were surrounding me and their voices were echoing in my head.

"We can't touch them. They're like the others." I heard whispers coming out of a male's mouth. My body felt refreshed and surprisingly... different. As if I was a completely new person. "They'll break into dust. We better call the ATCU to come collect them like the others. We have to make sure that none of them break out, if they aren't dead."

"What about the little one?"

"She's exposed. Give her to Price; she'll take care of her." Annie? We're they talking about Annie? No, they can't take her away from me! The footsteps leave and I begin to try to move. I could feel the tar loosening around my joints. It was a hard job but the more I moved my joints, the more it loosened and the easier it began to break. Soon enough, I could feel the fresh air on my wrist and my legs. From there, it was like cracking an egg shell. Large pieces fell to the floor and my face was revealed. I saw the world as if I had never seen it before. Everything looked... different. I don't know how, but everything looked so defined. The last thing that I broke free from the tar prison was my hand that I grabbed onto my dad's. I could still see the outline of his body and as I pulled my hand away, his broke off and fell to the floor in tiny particles. Tears welled up into my eyes and I held back my gasp. My parents. Gone. His body began to crumble bit by bit, and I couldn't handle it. I ran out of the back door and ran loose. I ran from everything.

I didn't know where I was running exactly. The surrounding areas were desert and forest. If I ran east for about an hour, I would come to suburban areas but then it would probably be easier for them to catch me. I didn't know where to go, I was so lost. I heard yelling erupt in the house and I quickly made cover in the small forest area I was standing in. When I saw police run out with some guys in suits, I ran for it.

Let me tell you this, dad always told me that this forest was small but I can assure you it's anything but small. I don't know why there was a forest in a desert area anyway, that was confusing. My legs and arms were getting scratched by lone branches sticking out from low trees and I was getting a mouth full of lone bugs and webs. Tears were making strands of lone hair stick to my face and my side was aching with a stitch. I was starting to wheeze too, my asthma beginning to play up.

It was like a big game of Hide and Seek, except I was running from people who I assume wanted to control and ruin my life. how exciting.

I couldn't hear any yelling so I slowed down. It should be safe to rest for a couple of minutes. I leaned against a tree and rested my hands on my knees, trying to catch my breath. My knees were shaky and the pain in my side wasn't leaving anytime soon. I could see the beginning of the sunset spreading through the sky and I sighed. It gets cold out here during the night; I'll have to find shelter.

I don't know how long I waited until I started walking back towards the house. I decided that if I couldn't go out in hiding, and I didn't want to freeze to death outside, I would go to dad and my hideout. We built it when I was about 7 and we use it as a getaway from my mum and my sister. As you can probably tell, I was a major daddy's girl and even though I was close to my mum too, I would definitely say that I favour my dad.

Walking back was slow and painful. The tiny little cuts that were covering my skin were beginning to sting and it was bothering me. The trees grew thinner and thinner until I could finally see the house coming up. All the lights were on inside, along with people walking around outside. They were dressed in weird suit things and were armed with big guns. This was a pleasant welcome home... I sigh before crawling around the outskirts of the house, seeing the brown, wooden ladder coming up. The house was built up so high in the sky that you had to be looking for it to actually see it. I climbed up the ladder and when I was securely inside of the tree-house structure, I also pulled up the ladder for extra comfort. The room was quite small, but it was cozy. There was a makeshift bed and kitchenette up there, complete with a mini fridge and snacks for a couple of days. The bed was just a couple of beanbags that could be pulled out to make a bed.

After having a couple of bites of a sandwich that I had made, I stiffened at the sound of voices coming from the house. They were walking towards where the small tree house was. I sat under the window, near the hole where you walked into the tree house and kept still

"Has anyone found a trace of the girl?" A woman's voice hissed quietly, she sounded angry. I made sure not to move and

"Price, you gotta give us some time. Inhumans are pesky things." Inhumans? Is that... Is that what I am? I'm not a human, I'm an Inhuman. I haven't hurt anyone though; why can't I be a normal human?

"Right now we have a newly hatched little girl, running into god knows where and we have no idea what she is capable to do. 24 hours Banks, and preferable before Coulson gets to her." One pair of the footsteps walks away while I hear the man below sighing. I creep my head over the entry of the house and see him leaning against the tree directly below me, rubbing his head.

"That woman, I swear..." He too walks away, so I crawl back into the warmth of the make shift bed and lay down. I had only 1 thing on my mind that night.

What was I?

Ooooh suspense ;)

These first 2 chapters weren't very interesting, I know. Kind of pointless too but I felt that they were needed because I didn't want to jump into the action straight away, and I wanted my OC to have a bit of a backstory before the actual story line started. I apologise if it's been a bit boring, next chapter will be good!
