Chapter 23

When I walked in I didn't bother looking at Calvin, I'm pretty sure he was still in the same state he's been in for 8 days now, motionless. He's been unconscious ever since he got here. The doctor says he's no linger in critical condition thank god that Tami didn't hit him hard enough.

I sat in the corner of the room beside Cortez, who was half asleep in his chair, and stared at the wall. I felt like I was being watched. I looked to the side and saw Rayray staring at me. I rolled my eyes and gave a dry chuckle, shaking my head.

Tyi: Got me fucked up

Every body in the rim turned to me

Nicki: Problem?

I rolled my eyes at her and stood up.

Tyi: Y'all hungry? We all haven't ate in a while. I can go downstairs and get y'all something from the cafeteria

Sheyenne: Nah I don't want that nasty stuff

Everyone agreed with her

Tyi: OK then I'll just go to Wendy's it's not far

Cortez: Take someone with you

Tyi: I'm a big girl I can cross the street by myself

I grabbed the keys and walked out of the room, down the hall, to the elevator. When I got in I pressed the 1st floor. As the doors were closing a hand stopped it. I groaned seeing Rayray come inside with a backpack hanging off his shoulder.

Rayray: Man shut up they made me come

Tyi: You can miss me with that bullshit I'm not in the mood

Rayray: And you think I am?

Tyi: Nah I think imma slam your head into the ground if you don't shut the fuck up

Rayray: Try it

Tyi: Don't forget who you talking to. I'm not your average girl I'll gladly fuck you up. I'll be about that life if you want me to.

Rayray: Be about it then

Tyi: Nigg--

???: Ma'am, sir, get off the elev--!!

The nurse running down the hall got cut off by the elevator doors shutting. I scrunched my face up in confusion.

Tyi: What was th--

Before I could finish my sentence the elevator made a weird sound before it stopped moving completely and all the lights went out.

Tyi: You're fucking kidding me!!!

Rayray: This that bullshit

I felt around on the buttons for the emergency one, I felt a button that was bigger than the other and pressed it. Immediately the back up lights came on and I could finally see Ray's ugly face.

???: We apologize for the mishap, we've been having trouble with our systems today, we'll have you out shortly.

I looked up and saw the voice was coming through a microphone.

Tyi: Does shortly mean a few hours?

???: Yes. Yes it does

I scrunched my face up

Tyi: You can hear me?

???: Yes ma'am

Ray stuck up his middle finger

Rayray: Can you see me?

???: No sir
