My body longs for sleep, but restlessness consumes me.
Darkness surrounds me
I can no longer see.
My mind is traveling at warped speed
My thoughts are flying faster than lightning.
I try my best to slow their pace, but they refuse to be tamed.
I construct a blockade in the desperate hope that it might slow their crazed march, but they ram into it, knocking it in pieces to the ground.
I cry out silently in frustration,
But my mind continues its devilish, willful cycle.
I cannot rest. I cannot sleep.
I can only dream fitfully and pray that the nightmares do not overtake me.
