***This is my first book so the chapters are gonna be on the short side. Sorry!***

I'm sitting in front of the fireplace, when Clarie comes running in, breathless and looking scared. She's got scratches and bruises everywhere and I immediately jump to tend to her. But she grabbed onto my shoulders with such force that I sucked in a quick breath.

"Pelly, they've found you. I've tried to keep you hidden but I can't do it anymore. You need to go to Camp Half-Blood now Pelly now!"

I'm looking at Clarie like, 'Camp what now?!', but she looks scared for someone's life. Probably mine actually. I've never seen her this scared before. She's always been the confident one, the one who led the group.

"Clarie, what are talking about?" I ask in a worried tone.

"I need you to trust me no matter what I say, okay Pelly?"

"Okay, sure," I cautiously respond. I'm cool with that because I've never been mad at anyone for anything.

"Do you remember all of those Greek and Roman mythology books I made you read during the autumn holidays?"
I nod slowly.

"Well they're real and I'm so sorry Pelly but I'm not your real sister. My name's Clarisse La Rue, daughter of Ares and I don't think I'm even related to you in any way. But you need to go to the crossroads and throw this coin on the ground. Then ask the ladies for Camp Half-Blood. I'll see you there Pelly. I promise I'll explain everything, or maybe Annabeth will. When you get to Camp Half-Blood ask immediately for either Chiron or Annabeth. Bye."

She shoved the coin in my hand, gave me a quick hug, then pushed me out of the front door. I see her run through the back with- what was that! A spear? I was shocked, but soon snapped out of it to start running to the nearest crossroads, about 2km down the way.

I don't even have anything to carry. I feel bare, like someone's stripped me of something important.

My heart is soon rattling in my chest but I push on.

I've been running for not even 500m, when I hear footsteps behind me. I continue for 100m or so, then look around and duck into the closest alleyway.

I hide in the darkness as the footsteps slow down and I can hear them come closer. I visualise the Minotaur, or maybe a Cyclops or Medusa!

I slow my breathing and concentrate.
