Rick opened the door for Kate as they walked inside the coffee shop. "Thank you." She said and he nodded. They ordered and then walked over to a table.

"So...are you a freshman?" Rick asked and he nodded. "Yea, I started a week ago." She answered and he smiled. "Sweet." He said. "Rodgers." A voice called.

"I'll get the drinks." he said and she nodded. When he came back with their drinks she thanked him and took hers. "So tell me about yourself." She said and he filled his cheeks with air and released with a sigh. "You'd be bored." He said and she laughed.

"You'd be surprised." She said and he laughed. "Alright..I'm 18, my full name is Richard Alexander Rodgers ummm I only have my mom and my brother." He said and she smiled.

"You have a brother?! Is he a football star as well?" She asked and he laughed. "He used to be, he's four years older than me." He said and she smiled. "He just graduated from Baylor with a Bachelor of Science Degree." He said and took a sip of her drink.

"That's really cool." She said and he nodded. "Yea he was always my role model growing up." He said and she smiled. "What about you? Any siblings." He asked and she shook her head.

"Nope, just two loving parents." She said and his lips upturned in a small smile. "I never met my dad." He said and she frowned. "Did he pass?" She asked and he scoffed.

"Hardly, he skipped out on us when I was born, apparently he didn't want to handle the responsibilities of having another kid to take care of." He said and she bit her lip. "I'm sorry." She said and he shrugged.

"It's in the past." he said and she nodded. Rick took a glance at his watch and gasped. "Oh shoot, I have to meet everyone at the football field." he said and she giggled. "Here I'll take you through the shortcut." She said.

"Thanks." he said grateful. She nodded and took one last sip of her drink. They exited the shop and Rick opened the door for her. "Come on it's just a 5 minute walk if we go the back way." She said and he nodded.

When they arrived at the field Rick was relieved, he was still 10 minutes early! He wouldn't have wanted the coach to think his new star player was a tarty. "Thank you for getting me here early." he said and she nodded.

"Since I'm early we can finish out convo." He said and she smiled. "Sure." She agreed. They walked over to the benches and smiled. "Ok so we talked about me so back to you." She said and he laughed.

"Ok umm what do you want to know?" He asked. "When did you start playing football." She asked. "Around my last year in middle school! I had tried almost every sport, baseball I couldn't swing at the ball if my life depended on it." He said and she cracked up.

"Soccer let's just say I broke both my feet within a year! Track, I wasn't horrible but straight running isn't my thing." he said and she nodded.
