I ran down the sidewalk to the park, the scent of cold rain hitting hard asphalt. For some reason, I'd always loved that smell. It was so calming. I don't know. I'm weird. I held my plastic blue binder over my head, and ran under the big roof, which was supposed to keep the lunch tables safe from the sun. So much for that. I sat next to the group of eight teenagers, all chattering amongst themselves. "Hey motha fuckas!" I said, sitting down next to my friend, Annalin. "Oh, hey Jess!" shouted Kian from across the tables, smiling. I smiled back, but was surprised to hear a distressed shout coming from behind me. I turned to see Alec and Jasmine shouting at each other, about who knows what. They had an on-off relationship, and they were breaking up and getting together like every other week.
I sighed and turned to Cody, Alec's twin brother, though identical, they were nothing alike. "So what happened this time?" I asked. "Well, apparently, Jasmine found some weed and a bong under Alec's bed. But it wasn't like we all didn't know he smoked pot. She just got really pissed off," explained Cody. I sighed, looking back at the couple. Like Cody said, we all knew Alec smoked. Cody actually got him into the habit. Actually, he got Alec, Kian and I into the habit. "Well, it's not like she should be mad. We all know what she does," I said, chuckling a bit. Jasmine had an addiction to sex. Not like, she did it a lot. She like did it. A lot. "Yeah," shrugged Cody, pulling out a pack of cigarettes and offering everyone one. Annalin, Kian, Zoe,Ted, and I took a cigarette and after lighting his own, Cody passed around a lighter.
We all smoked and talked for awhile, until we noticed that Alec and Jasmine weren't shouting anymore. I turned around to see Alec sitting under a single tree alone, absolutely drenched in the rain. "Guys, I'm gonna go talk to Alec." I said, taking my cigarette out on the table, and running over to Alec. I sat beside him, and tapped his shoulder, "Jas-oh," he seemed excited to think it was Jasmine, until he realized it was just me. "Well, nice to see you too, Alec," I laughed, as he turned to face me. "Sorry Jess. I just thought she'd come back. Man, ever since she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, she hasn't been the same. I mean, it's like she's taking advantage of it," he said, leaning against the frail tree. I understood what he meant. Before she was diagnosed, Jasmine had most of the symptoms, but afterwards, it seemed like she was trying to seem like she had it even more than she actually did. "Well, what's the situation?" I asked. He sighed and said, "She broke up with me. And even worse, she told me she was cheating on me! With fucking Jackson Mills." Jackson Mills was the jock for the football team, and was known for being a giant homophobe. ;
"Woah, man. I'm sorry. Well, if you want, I can help you get over her. How does ice cream and weed sound?" I asked, a devilish grin climbing onto my face. He smirked and said, "Hella fine." I stood up, offering him my hand, which he took, and I helped him up. I walked over to our group of friends, and said, "Hey guys, I'm taking Alec to my place for ice cream and weed. So, we're gonna dash." Cody became wide eyed, and hopped over the table, and dropped to his knees. "No! Come on Jessy! Take me with you!" he whined. I laughed and said, "Aw, sorry Codes. But your brother just broke up with Jasmine. We're celebrating." Cody's face dropped, and he got up to his feet. "Aw, bro. I'm sorry. You go. Have fun. Be safe. Use protection," Cody said with a wink, barely escaping Alec's punch. "Okay, well, we're gonna dash. Later skaters," I said, turning to hear the many 'later skater!'s from my friends. Then, Alec and I left.
"Man, do you have your car? This rain is hella annoying," I asked Alec, as we got closer to the parking lot. "Nah, I walked here. Car's outta gas," he responded, pulling out a cigarette. "Ey man. Gimme one," I said, pulling it out of his mouth. He rolled his eyes, and pulled out another. He lit his, and gave me his lighter. After about five minutes of walking in the rain and smoking, we got to my apartment that I shared with Kian. I opened the door, and Alec walked in, me following.
