Everything changed that day.
Everything.
Fire exploded, my soul felt pulled by a strong force. The pain became unbearable. I could feel cuts in my skin until suddenly, it stopped. I fell to ground in a heap, shaking in fear. Next thing I knew, I saw a man chanting an unknown language.
"What are you?" I said under my breath.
Looking up, he hardened his glance and continued speaking except I couldn't understand. I ran, running as if my life depended on it.
Stopping me, he flung me onto the wall with only a hand. His tendrils coming out from a dark door pulled me up to him. Before I could say anything, he raised his hand as fire and sparks flickered but deflected off of my body. He raised his eyebrow questioningly and then summoned a weapon resembling a machete and thrust it into my stomach. It disappeared into my body. The man yelled,
"Why is this not working?!"
The man threw his weapon on the ground and walked away. Finally able to catch my breath, I wondered,
"Who was he? Why is he able to do those things? What is he doing here?" I grabbed my things and walked home cautiously.
When I arrived home I sighed and laid down on the couch. My relaxation disrupted by a pair of eyes staring at me from the ceiling. I jumped off the couch. Finally the man spoke, "Are you going to be looking at me all day?"
"N-no."
"Get up dirt bag."
As I stood up I saw him sitting on the kitchen counter stools and having what I thought was a Martini.
"I learned from one of my agents in this world that I was bound to you. When my soul broke, it clamped onto any nearby soul. Your soul was like glue for my soul, sadly it was your soul ." Tres said as he stalked over to me.
"How'd this...?"
"Happen? Does it really matter? I'll stay in your house for a while. Your mortal comrades won't get in my way."
I tried to protest but he was gone. I thought, "First of all, Why is he so mean? Second, What will I do with a strange man in my house? Third, why am I a dirt bag?" Sighing, I looked around but he was nowhere in sight. When I returned to my room I saw the demon man again. He told me his name, Tres Demonter. I then decided to sleep but couldn't. After a few hours of restless sleep Tres asked me,
"What is your name?"
"Camille Evangeline"
"What will you be doing the tomorrow?"
"Oh, um, just going to school."
After resting, I feel asleep.
I made breakfast and lunch. Tres followed me out the door and walked with me to school. Nobody seemed to notice Tres as they passed through him.
When we arrived at school, people looked at me with disgust. Three periods passed. Walking to my 4th period class, Richard, a bully, slammed me against the locker.
"What do we have here, a try hard emogirl. Heh. This is going to be fun."
I just glared at Richard.
"Why don't you just hand over your homework? Huh?"
A punch landed on my face before I could say anything. Blood dripped down my mouth. When I saw Richard pull back his fist, I closed my eyes. When I opened them, I couldn't feel anything. Looking down, I saw Richard laying on the ground. Not being able to control my movements, I ran home.
I crumpled to the ground, sharp pains hit me everywhere. I writhed on the ground until the pain finally stopped.
"This makes things worse," said Tres.
Daring to look up, I asked questionally, "What exactly do you mean..."
"I felt everything, everything. The punch. Your pain. GAH!"
Shattering noise filled the house, Tres's eyes began to gloss over, and I just stood there. Making careful steps forward, I reached Tres. Speaking softly,
"Hey, we'll get through this."
Tres pushed me away while yelling, "NO! There is no 'we', there is only me. There can only be me! ME!"
My body slammed into the wall as I heard a crash. My body collapsed as I felt a warm liquid cascading down my face. My body suddenly felt weak, my eyes drooped begging me to close my eyes.
"Oh no. No-no-no-no. Camille!"
Falling to my body's whim, my world went dark. My eyes fluttered open to see a red and black world. Skulls and bodies scattered across the ground and nothing seemed to be living. A little boy stood amongst this mess looking down on the ground. Scared, I spoke,
"H-hey, Ki-kid. Wher-where exactly are we?" The kid didn't reply. A older man with a red face started walking towards us. I quickly hid and looked to see what would go down. The old, red man spoke,
"See what you have done? You have hurt your, 'friends'."
Still looking down the kid spoke, "But, I wanted to play with them."
"Tres, Do you actually think any specimen would want to play with you, a demon? A demon like you shouldn't rely on the weaker species.
"I'm sad, dad."
"A DEMON SHOULDN'T FEEL ANYTHING!"
Lava shot out of the ground and all the bodies slowly melted away in the lava. Before leaving Tres's dad spoke calmly, "Make this a lesson to whatever happens to your friends." Looking at Tres, I saw tears falling from his eyes.
"I'm sorry, Tres. I never-"
Before I could say anything else a blinding light burst into the sky. Opening my eyes, I was back to reality. My eyes wandered around finding a broken picture frame covered in blood, vases and chairs broken. Finally finding Tres, Tres ran and hugged me.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean what I said! I'm just..."
"Just what?
"Scared... Can you ever forgive me?"
Looking into his eyes, I hugged him back and spoke,
"I forgive you."
