"I was already used to it even before we had a label on our relationship because most of time you were angry at me," he remarked, pulling his car into my driveway.
"That is quite true," I laughed, unbuckling my seatbelt and pushing open the passenger door. "I had a good time tonight and I would love to do it again."
I climbed out of the car and was about to shut the door when Josh spoke. "What? No goodnight kiss? Nothing?"
"Joshua, I had sex with you exactly a week ago. I think you can live without me kissing you on the first date. Also, if you look really carefully you'll see that my dear younger brothers are looking at us through the window." As soon as those words left my mouth, the curtain fell back into its normal position.
A laugh left Josh. "Honestly, I really like your brothers."
I rolled my eyes. "Good night, Joshua."
"Good night, princess Beaumont."
--Aiden's P.O.V--
Chicago and I still hadn't spoken since the comment she made at the police station, but the moment she walked into the door of the school, hand in hand, with Joshua Dun, I decided to break my silence.
"Chicago, can I talk to you?" I asked, quietly, before looking at Josh. "Alone,"
The red-haired girl nodded, pulling her hand out of Josh's. She planted a kiss on his cheek before gesturing for me to follow her towards the empty gym.
Chicago was my best friend and I loved seeing her happy, but watching her and Josh together made me want to puke. They were a great couple, but for the last two years I had imagined Garrett and Chicago's wedding ceremony. Now that they weren't together, it was like I couldn't count on anything anymore.
The moment we stepped into the deserted gym, Chicago turned to face me. "Okay, before you say whatever you planned on saying, I have to say that I'm sorry. I am so so sorry for that comment I made. I know I should have thought before I spoke, but I was under a lot of stress-"
I held my hand up, cutting her off. "It's fine, Chicago, really. Of course, at the time, it hurt, but that was only because you are the one person that I really care about in my life that loves me for who I am. And since I love you so much as I do, I forgave you days ago. I just wanted both of us to cool down before we spoke to each other again."
Chicago slowly nodded her head. "I really am sorry, Aiden. I wish I never said that."
I held out my arms for a hug. She stepped forward and I wrapped my arms around her before squeezing tightly. "Now, do you want to explain me what you are going to do about you, Josh, and Garrett?" I asked as I pulled away from her.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
I raised my eyebrows. "You and Josh are now an item, which is causing everyone to stare because everyone literally thought you were going to marry Garrett. Garrett, who is still heartbroken, is coming back to school today. He's furious at Josh for everything and once he sees that you guys are actually together, it's not going to end very well."
Chicago signed, rubbing her eyes. "I can handle him being angry. It's better than him being sad." She lifted her head up to look at me. "Are you sure he hasn't harmed himself?"
"His mother has been watching him like a hawk. As far as I know, he's alright," I responded.
The girl in front of me breathed a sigh of relief. "Good."
I glanced down at my watch to see that the bell was about to ring to dismiss us to our lockers. "Come on, we better get back to Josh. Bell's about to ring."
I held the door open for Chicago before closing it behind me. We hurried down the hallway, but as we got closer to the area outside the office, we could hear yelling.
Chicago's eyes widened. "Oh my God." Her and I took off running and we rounded the corner to see a crowd gathering around none other than Garrett Thomas and Joshua Dun.
"So you and her are official now?" Garrett asked, crossing his arms. Josh nodded. "Yeah, we are giving us a chance. It's not like we are going to get married tomorrow."
Garrett stepped closer to Josh as I shoved my way through the crowd. Chicago kept trying to get through, but people were pushing her back. Garrett whispered something, only loud enough for Josh to here, and I watched Josh's eyes widen.
"I can't believe you slept with her," he muttered under his breath before turning around and stepping towards the edge of the big circle was centered around them. Josh dropped his head to look at his feet and the moment he did so, I wanted to scream.
Garrett flipped around before drawing his fist back. His knuckles connected with Josh's face, knocking him to the ground. Everyone in the crowd started cheering as Garrett climbed on top of Josh and just started punching him like no tomorrow.
"Stop!" Chicago cried, finally making it passed all the onlookers and latching onto her ex-boyfriend's waist, trying to pull him off of Josh. "Guys, stop!"
There was no way in the world that Garrett was going to stop. He had too much built up anger towards Josh, who took everything from him. Garrett grabbed onto Chicago's arms and shoved her back gently, making sure that she didn't fall in process, before suffering a blow from Josh whose nose was clearly bleeding.
"Aiden, get them to stop!" Chicago screamed.
I didn't know what to do or how to help the situation. It wasn't like I could charge into the middle of the fight and be able to drag Garrett off of Josh's body. He was a good hundred and sixty pounds and I only weighed hundred and twenty.
That's when one of Garrett's teammates on the basketball team decided to step forward and throw him off of Josh. Garrett stumbled before regaining his balance and trying to lunge towards Josh once more. Chicago grabbed a hold of his waist and burying her face into his back. She was whispering something to him, but I couldn't make out what exactly.
Two members of the basketball team helped Josh to his feet and his only injuries seemed to be a bloody nose and a bruise on his jaw. Of course, tomorrow was probably going to look worse after other bruises formed.
"Thomas! Dun!" The principal, Mrs.Howell yelled, shoving passed all the people that still remained on scene. "My office right now!"
Garrett broke away from Chicago's hold and started towards the office without saying another word. Josh, on the other hand, was assisting that he was fine; that his injuries weren't that serious. It was obvious that his comment was directed towards Chicago, who was shaking uncontrollably.
"Mr. Leffew, take Ms. Beaumont to the nurse while I deal with Thomas and Dun," Mrs. Howell commanded, grabbing Josh by the arm and dragging him towards the office.
Chicago ran towards me, wrapping her arms around my waist and burying her face into my chest. Her entire body trembled uncontrollably and I wish there was something I could do to make her feel better, but sadly, I couldn't.
How did things get so complicated?
A/N: The next update is extremely long and upsetting and in advance, I need to say, do not kill me.
