twenty-two // i'm too depressed to go on

My younger brother rolled his eyes. "Now you are just being cocky, Josh. But seriously, you need to understand that it isn't going to be smooth sailing from here. You aren't going to go to school and be showered in affection from Chicago. Her boyfriend is still in the picture."

Garrett honestly made me so angry. He was the one thing that was standing in my way from being in a real relationship with Chicago and I just wish she would dump him, but I knew that wasn't going to happen. I decided to not argue with my brother on the subject matter.

"Whatever, Jordan. I'll see you in the morning. Goodnight."

I stepped out of his room and headed towards mine, taking my phone out of my jeans pocket.

"Don't even think about texting her!"

The thought of seeing Joshua Dun again made my stomach turn, which is why I begged Summer to let me stay home from school for the last few days. I didn't tell her what happened between Josh and I, but she probably already guessed it because she kept asking if I wanted Garrett to come over. I couldn't face him either.

"Do you want to tell me why you haven't been at school?" Aiden asked, barging into my room, the homework that I missed in his hands. "Garrett is frantic because he hasn't heard from you and Josh won't even look at me in the halls either."

I groaned, pushing my laptop off my lap as he came to sit down in front of me. "I'm sorry, Aiden. I haven't had the motivation to get out of bed since Sunday."

"What happened with Josh Saturday? When I walked into Hot Topic, you guys were acting very strange," he remarked, positioning all my textbooks in front of his body.

"You promise that you won't yell at me?"

"No."

"Well, thank you for being honest, I guess," I said, a little bit of shock in my voice. "It all started when Joshua and I went to go to the Hot Topic. He saw a photo booth on the way there and I agreed to take pictures with him. For the last picture, he kissed me. I'm the one that made it awkward afterwards; I just didn't know what to say."

Aiden took his beanie off, running his hands through his brown hair. "Maybe you should have punched him, Chicago. You are in a relationship and Josh should be able to respect that. Garrett loves you and I know you don't want to hurt him."

I got to my feet, crossing my arms over my chest and pacing the length of my room. Tears were threatening to escape from my eyes at Aiden's comment. He was right. I didn't want to hurt Garrett, but I did in the most terrible way.

"Chicago?" The boy questioned. "Something else happened after you guys dropped me off, didn't it?" His voice trailed off as realization dawned on his face. "Oh my God, Chicago, you didn't."

I rubbed my hands across my face, trying to get rid of the tears. "Yeah, I did. I- I can't even say it."

"Let me say it then," Aiden remarked. "You let Joshua Dun fuck you senseless!"

"Don't say it like that!" I covered my ears with my hands, a sob escaping my lungs. "It makes it sound so much worse."

Aiden looked at me in disbelief. "That's because it's meant to be a worse issue. You cheated on Garrett! I thought you loved him."

I flipped around, wiping at my face angrily. "I do love Garrett; I just don't know what came over me."

Aiden raised his eyebrows. "Do you love him enough to tell him the truth about you and Josh? Either way, he's going to get hurt. He's going to be hurt that you cheated and he's going to be hurt that you kept it from him. It's better to fuss up and beg for forgiveness now than later."
