I come in and dump my bag on the hard tiles of the kitchen and sigh 'I'm so glad schools over mum, I don't know how much more I could take!' I said to mum tiredly.
'Now schools over you can come help me with the christmas shopping, Olivia?' I looked up from my phone with a scowl on my face.
'But i hate christmas shopping mum' I complain. I get up from my chair and hop up the stairs to my room and close the door.
I change out of my dull school uniform and into a crop top and some designer shorts. Then I wip my hair into a high ponytail, sunglasses on top, then I grab some money and my phone and race down the stairs and out the house.
I was along the road down to the beach hoping to see my bestest friend there, Fern.
When I get there I get a glimpse of Ferns long bruenette hair blowing about in the warm summer air. I race over to her,
she didn't notice me until I was standing right infront of her.
'Hey Olivia, you never come to the beach?' She says in her sweet voice.
Just wonering if you wanted to go shopping my mum has been nagging at me to go with her but I thought it would be more fun with you so... you in?' I ask. She looks down at her phone and then back up at me.
'Yea sure' she says softly.
As we walk along the shops I start to wonder why mum hasn't told me anything about what we are doing for christmas this year. Then, as if by magic, I get a text from mum saying to come home for a surprise!
' I have to go sorry' I say to Fern as kindly as I can. She looks up at me from staring aimlessly at the ground and smiles and nods
'I better go too, I need to pick my brother up from day care and take him to his friends house' Fern says as we say goodbye. As I walk home I think to myself that the surprise is going to be something like christmas shopping witch is what I hate. As I walk through the door I get a wiff of freashly baked cookies coming from the kitchen. I walk in and see mum munching away at a cookie, she looks at me and smiles. 'So whats the big surprise?' I say.
