*YAWN*. Nathan slowly stumbled out of his comfy, soft bed. He drowsily walked across his bedroom to wake up his lazy adoptive brother who would usually sleep until 1 PM if given the chance. "W-Wes...wake up..," Nate mumbled as he slowly rubbed his eyes. "We're going to be late to school... *YAWN*" Nate grabbed onto Wesley and started shaking him from left to right. Nothing, Wes didn't even twitch his eyelids and he simply continued snoring.

Nathan looked around the room, and wondered what he could use to wake his best friend up. He then gazed at the alarm clock, and noticed that it's actually Saturday. "Oh.... of course. No wonder his body won't allow him to wake up!" Nate mumbled with a grumpy tone. He ignored the situation and went downstairs.

The first thing he spotted was a note left by Wesley's mother ; Rebecca. He slowly lifted it up, opened his eyes wide open and started reading the note. "Left for work early today, there's food in the fridge ready for when you boys get hungry. Remember to do your homework before I get home, and I'll reward you with some pizza for the three of us! - Love, mum. ", Nate ran upstairs and without hesitation, quickly grabbed a cup of water and threw it onto Wes' face!

Wesley woke up screaming. "AHHHh!!! COLD! C-cold.... water.. *sigh*", Nate grinned contently, as if he just won a game. "Wes! If we do our homework early before your mother gets home, she'll order some pizza for all of us!", Nate shouted with happiness.

"Why do you call her my mother? She's your mum too, ya' know! But anyway-PIZZA?! PIZZA!!! WOO!", Wesley joined in and they jumped around the room and laughed like two little children. The duo had a surprising amount of homework, it took them 4 whole hours to do. But after all that work and exhaustion, the two waited eagerly on their couch in the kitchen for their mother to return.

"Why is she taking so damn long? She should be home by now." , Wesley grumbled impatiently. "She'll be home soon, you're overreacting , Wes.", Nate tried not to be irrational, as always.  "Dude, it's 6 pm! She hasn't even called... what the hell...", Wes started to panic on the inside. "Calm down, she'll be back before you know it.", he spoke confidently before reaching for the television remote and turned it on.

"We are broadcasting live fr- [INAUDIBLE] ... we would like to inform everyone to stay inside. The virus spreads through dir-[INAUDIBLE] ... have confirmed that they have lost control of this pathogen and will likely take a while before things get back to the way they used to b- [INAUDIBLE] .... -I am being informed to remind everyone NOT to go outside and not to make contact with anyone that is infected. Please... stay sa-", the broadcast was suddenly interrupted by the program that was airing at that time.

Wesley and Nathan were shocked, and now in a state of panic. Wes quickly got up and tried to ring his mother, but to no avail. They checked every single phone in the house but nothing worked. Looks like they weren't going to have pizza that night.

With tears in his eyes, Wes assumed the worst. "What if she's infected?! WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING! FUCK!', he quickly got up and kicked the coffee table. 'WES! Calm dow-", Nate was interrupted.

"NO, NATHAN. I CAN'T calm down. She's still here for me, and I'll worry about her as much as I need to!", Wes realised what he just said...

Nathan was distraught. Wesley knew he was very sensitive about his parents, how they passed away in a car crash when he was only eleven. It's the whole reason why Rebecca took him in. Nathan had no family left in the country, they all lived abroad. As soon as he snapped out of it, he ran upstairs and got into the attic and locked the trapdoor shut.

Wesley followed soon enough. "Nate- I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you, you know I wouldn't go that far...", Wes was sincere about what he was saying... but no response. Wes felt horrible for what he did, and simply stayed up all night in front of the Television, but nothing else was broadcasted, and he drifted away into a deep sleep a couple hours later.

Nathan was tearing up by that point, and he refused to deal with the situation. He felt tired and stressed, so he just placed himself onto an old mattress in a comfy position, and eventually fell asleep.
