The Light

Prologue

We were sent to Russia to deal with the recent invasion of aliens. The Russian army was helpless against their attacks, so they begged us to help them.
Traffic was terrible. Cars were lined up waiting to be destroyed, and people were even getting out of their cars with ak34v's and everything trying to fire at the large mother ships floating above. The large ship that almost consumed the sky moved, but moved very slowly. It would keep on deploying smaller ships where aliens would just fall out of. My friend, Drake, and I called them Fallen because of how they just fell from their ships onto the ground.
"We didn't sign up for this,"I overheard Frederic mutter as he loaded his ICR-1.
We ran through traffic while yelling for people to evacuate the area immediately. The people who didn't follow orders got out of their vehicles and video taped the event.
Fallen ships were all around us dropping Fallen after Fallen. My Khvostov 7G-02 was running too low on ammunition, but I just switched to using my knife and fists to fight them off.
The fight went on for no more than 45 minutes, but it felt like hours.
When the fighting had finally stopped, I struggled to catch my breath. We were fairly certain we had won this fight, but just as we were celebrating, Drake noticed what looked like a turret appear from the bottom of the humongous ship. Drake was right, and the turret began to transform into more of a cannon the size of 10 school buses. After the cannon was done morphing, it aimed straight at our area.
"Oh no!"Toland yelled as the cannon began charging.
"We have to go, Now!"I screamed as I ran.
All I can remember next was hearing a loud explosion, and then being propelled into the sky.
While in the sky, all I saw was the Traveler. Its completely white body deteriorated towards the bottom. Then, I began to plummet to the Earth until there was a pinch of pain and immediate darkness.
