"Hey mum," Phil walked down to his family's kitchen. He opened the fridge before shutting it again. "You know Christmas is nearing and I've really been getting into the youtube community. I like the camera I have now and all, but can I please have a better one? I think it'll really make my subscriber count go up if the videos aren't in black and white."

"Who are you talking to?" Martyn, Phil's brother, smirked. He grabbed a water from the fridge and sat on the counter.

"No one, just practicing what I'm going to ask mum for Christmas. I know money is tight at the moment, but I really want this camera," Phil sighed, leaning against the dishwasher.

"Ask dad, maybe you'd have a better chance," his brother recommended.

Phil snorted.

"No seriously! I know dad seems tight with money but he seems to be the calm one at the moment. I asked him for the dirt bike and he said he'd think about it, but if I went to mom she'd probably yell at me for not doing anything around the house and asking for such an expensive thing around these difficult times. Dad's really stepping up around the house," he jumped off the counter and began walking to the front door. "Anyways, tell mum or dad I'm going to David's. We're going to watch football."

"Boring," Phil sighed, but nodded. "Did you know in America they call that soccer?"

"Who cares," Martyn replied, grabbing his coat and exiting the house.

Phil watched his brother walk to their neighbors house before disappearing into the brown home. He couldn't believe it. His brother had just talked with him, and he gave advice. Gave advice! This was unusual for them. Martyn was always gone, either at his friends house or in his room listening to stupid music.

He wanted to be closer to his brother, he did, but home time wasn't always there considering Martyn was in university and Phil would be leaving soon. Time with each other was difficult to find and even harder to enjoy. Both of them had the "I hate my brother, he's so annoying" act going on. It wasn't fun, but it worked. They appeared cooler, besides, siblings were supposed to be that way, right?

"Phil, can you come in here please?" his dad asked from the den. Phil trotted in the room, his anxiety levels already rising. His father and him never really got along. Phil wasn't a fan of sports and that's all his dad cared about. This along with his dad's hatred for the youtube community mixed into a, not bad, but not good either, relationship.

"Yeah?" Phil replied when he reached his dads chair. He was reclined all the way back, a glass of scotch sitting on a wood nightstand beside the lazy boy chair. His eyes were closed and his lips pursed into a straight line.

"I heard you and Martyn talking. I will tell you right now, we will do our best to get you a better camera and your brother a dirt bike. I am fully aware life for us all is difficult but in my opinion, we should spend the rest of our money on things we enjoy. Things we love, such as cameras and dirt bikes," he smiled slightly, not daring to show his teeth. Phil had never seen his fathers teeth, he always smiled without showing them. Even when he talked they never seemed to show. Odd, he never thought about it before, but now, it was all he could think about.

"Are you listening Phil?" his dad asked, raising his voice slightly.

"Erm yeah, sorry. I was just, you know, thinking. Anyways, thanks dad," he smiled before walking away to his room.

He turned on his old black and white video camera, balancing it on the makeshift tripod. He grabbed his lion and sat it on his bed before walking back to the camera. He hit record and took his spot on the floor he usually sat in.

"Hello! I'm here, with good news. Maybe the best news! I might get a new camera and you'll get to see me in color. I have to admit though, my hair still will be black. I hope I don't lose followers due to this considering I'm probably the only youtuber in the world who uses a black and white camera," he stuck out his tongue and crossed his eyes to show his sarcasm. He paused for a moment, knowing he could edit it out. "Maybe some people just like the old style better. If so, then I have good news! If I do get a new camera, I'll be giving my camera away to one lucky person, and it'll be signed! Yup, my first ever giveaway! I'm sorry all my American viewers but I can only afford UK shipping. So to enter tweet me at Amazingphil or email me at amazingphil at gmail.com. I will randomly select one person from a number generator and that lucky person will be notified on," he looked at the calendar, "December 31st! Start your tweeting or emailing now! One entry per day please, otherwise I'll have to block you, which I really don't want to do. Bye!"

He walked back to the camera and shut it off. His ideas were boring and he knew no one would enter the contest but it's the thought that counts right? He decided he'd upload the video in a week. That would give everyone 2 weeks to email and or tweet him.

"Phil, honey! Are you doing that youtube thing again?" his mom called to him from his doorway.

"Yeah, I'll be there in a minute," he replied through the closed door. Phil grabbed his lion and shoved it in his drawer. He put away the makeshift tripod and put the camera in the same drawer. His room looked more like a regular teenage boy's room. He opened the door to see his mother smiling sadly.

"If you'd like, the weather is rather warm today, you can have a friend over," she leaned against the doorway, a laundry basket in her hands. "We can order pizza, rent some video games."

"Thanks mom!" he grinned. Phil's mom moved out of the way so he could go to the phone on the wall. He dialed his friend's number and waited for him to pick up.

"Phil?" Pj's voice asked. Phil smiled at his friends voice. They hadn't talked since school ended, which was only a week but in teenage days it was a year and a half.

"Hey Pj, wanna come over today? My mum said we could rent some video games and order pizza. Maybe we could put up the trampoline too and jump on that tomorrow," Phil hated asking people over, even his best friend.

"That sounds like a lot of fun but um, I kind of have plans," Pj trailed off in the end, making it hard to hear. Phil stopped for a moment, letting the words sink in before he nodded.

"Oh, no that's okay! Whatcha doing?" he asked, laying down on his bed.

"Well, it's hard to explain, Phil. Um, well. Phil, I think I'm gay," Pj's voice was soft as if he didn't want anyone to hear. Was Phil the first one to be told?

"Really?" he let his eyes enlarge before remembering what he knew he'd say. "Well, I totally accept you and it will most definitely not ruin our friendship. You can still come over if you want too, we can talk about it. My parents won't listen if we're in my bedroom."

The truth was, Phil had expected it. There was something about Pj that just screamed gay, yet he wasn't sure what. He had been thinking of what to say every time he wondered about it. He only knew he had to put the point across that he would accept him, no matter his sexuality.

"No, you see, I have a date. An actual date, with a guy. My parents think its just a few friends hanging out but it's more than that. Please don't tell anyone!"

"I won't Pj, need any help with anything?" he asked, happy that his friend already found a date. Then it hit him, he wasn't the first to be told. Pj decided to tell some other person instead of his best friend. Phil convinced himself it was no big deal and not to talk about it. It would just make things worse.

"Actually yes, what the hell do you where on a date?"
