A/N: This one shot take place after 5x19 when Snow leaves the underworld for baby Neal. Enjoy!
Hades had been trying to take away the hope of the heroes' since the day they arrived in him world. He had attempted to turn Killian and Emma against each other, which evidently failed. He had tried to prevent Dorothy from escaping her sleeping curse, which also failed. He had done much to try to extinguish the hope the heroes brought, with no success.
But, his next idea, now it was one he considered to be genius.
He had once tried to turn Killian against his true love, with no luck, but this next idea, maybe, just maybe he might get the heroes to leave, without the pirate.
Killian was at his and Emma's home, looking through some of the contents of his house, trying to find any clue, with no luck. All he managed to do was stare at the nursery, which he wanted so badly to mean what he thought it meant.
Was he meant to have a child with Emma?
Did he want that?
He smiled at the thought. A little boy or girl, with his hair colour and her eyes. His nose, her mouth.
It sounded so perfect. But could they get there?
He took a small book from the shelf full of many books, one with the title Peter Pan.
Ah, the Disney version.
He smiled again.
He had only wished Emma could be here with him, while they searched through their future, but she was busy helping David try to communicate with Snow.
All of the sudden, as he was about to open the book to make sure Hook was true to who he actually was, a puff of green smoke appeared in front of him in his living room.
Hades had a wide grin on his face.
"Pirate, so good to see you again."
Hook sucked in a breath.
"Hades-"
"Oh relax. I'm not here to hurt you-"
"-again." Hades chuckled at the thought.
"I'm here actually, to help you."
Killian squinted his eyes.
"What kind of help could you possibly provide me?" His tone was sour, as the words fell out of his mouth naturally.
The hate he had for this man went deep.
"Well, much help actually. See, I know a lot, Mr Jones, and well I know a lot of your's and Ms. Swan's relations."
Killian's attention was caught.
"Leave her alone."
Hades laughed.
"Oh, no. I don't want to hurt her, I mean unless of course I have to."
Killian wanted to kill him so very badly.
"See, I know the type of relationship you two share, and while some believe it's inspiring, or perhaps beautiful, I believe it's well, unhealthy."
Killian felt his stomach drop.
Unhealthy?
Why should he listen to him? The man wouldn't know love if it hit him in the face.
"See, you and Ms Swan have managed to hurt eachother more than you've managed to make eachother happy, and to me that's toxic."
"Don't you dare tell me about my relationship. You have no place or right." Killian snapped, the anger building quickly.
Hades chuckled.
"I mean, I know you care for her, and she for you I believe. But, you see, that is not always everything needed in a relationship, and well that's all you and Ms. Swan have."
Killian's anger was building quickly, and he was ready to burst.
How dare he tell Killian things about his relationship that he knew were untrue.
Or were they?
Killian thought.
"Well, you see you've died 3 times, she became the dark one, and you became the dark one all in the span, of what, not even a full year?"
Killian tried to ignore the words Hades was uttering, with no success. He couldn't help but listen, and actually start to believe what Hades was saying.
Maybe he and Emma were naive and their relationship was one that could never work?
"All of which was out of our control." Killian tried to convince Hades and himself.
"She turned you into the dark one, and then you, as the dark one, brought all the dead dark ones back to seek revenge on Rumplestiltskin, which got you dead, and down here. So please, tell me how it was all out of your control." Hades said.
He could tell the pirate was beginning to get on edge.
"We've forgiven each other for that-"
"Yes, but forgetting and forgiving are two different things. Tell me pirate, have you forgotten the pain you felt when you learned you were the dark one?"
Hook thought for a moment.
No, but I don't care any longer. Our love is stronger than that.
He thought.
"It doesn't matter, it doesn't hurt any more." Hook stated.
"Fine, but do you honestly think Emma forgets the words you said to her?"
Hook tried to think.
What is he talking about?
"You know, how you called her a blonde distraction, and you told her she would always be an orphan." Hades chuckled a little when he saw the look of horror on Killian's face.
Killian's heart dropped.
Sure, she might have forgiven him, but that's different from forgetting. She would always remember.
"She'll never forget the day the person that was supposed to believe in her the most, stopped believing in her, and called her a pretty blonde distraction."
Killian felt his chest squeeze, and his head spin. He had left her with a scar, regardless of whether she forgave him or not.
Then he began to wonder, how many scars have I left her with?
"So, I'm here to offer you something."
"I want nothing you have to offer me!" Hook yelled. His anger was boiling over, and he could feel his vision becoming blurred.
"Oh, but you do. See I'm here to offer you something so that you can see just how many times you've hurt the woman you love." A second puff of green smoke appeared and a little device appeared in Hades hands.
"This device can show you any moment from the past you wish to see. You plug it to the side of any device, so for optimal viewing I suggest Hd tv." Of course Hades was being sarcastic.
"All you must do is think of which moments you want to see, and they will play right in front of your eyes."
Killian thought for a moment.
"So what do you say? Do you wish to see my point? Do you want to see all the times you've hurt Ms Swan, to prove me right?" Hades asked, holding the small white, black and blue stick in front of the angry pirate.
Killian snatched the device from Hades, as Hades chuckled.
"Good choice. Now, enjoy the show." Hades said, with a puff of smoke.
Killian wanted to scream even though he thought that perhaps the devil had a point.
Killian took a deep breath and walked over to the tv and plugged the stick into the side.
He sat down as he pressed the on button on the remote.
He thought, and the first thing memory he though to was the dungeon. In only one moment the vision he had thought of appeared on the screen.
He watched as the old him held the bean in front of Emma, as she tried so desperately to grab it. He pulled it away multiple times, watching as her face went from hopeful to hopeless in just a few moments.
She wanted to see her son so badly, and he took that chance from her.
I did this to her.
And he knew she forgave him, and he knew she loves him, but he also knew that this hurt her, and she'd never forget the feeling of hopelessness.
