Rosalyn's POV
Have you ever sat down and thought about how crappy your life is?
Or how you know you have no hope in getting something you really want?
Well that's exactly how I feel right now as I sit in the cold hospital room beside my father who is pretty much dying. I've just been informed that I'm down on the payments for my father's hospital bills, I know that I can't do anything about it, but there's something that's telling me that I could've done better to take care of my father and I know that it's not exactly my job, but lately, that's what it feels like.
"Clara, my love is that you?" my father croaked in his thick Spanish accent, stretching his hand out.
"No padre, it's me, Rosa. How're you feeling pa?" I whispered, placing my hand on his gently. He remained silent for a few seconds before his eyes screwed shut and he coughed violently, sputtering blood all over his white hospital gown.
I pressed the button signaling the nurse repeatedly before the chubby nurse came bouncing into the room.
"I see you're back Rosalyn," the nurse spoke, eyeing me furiously while mopping up the blood on the gown.
"Thanks for that update, Captain Obvious,"I answered sarcastically.
"Who died and made you so bitter?" she replied.
"Well, he's laying right in front of you, I'm just hoping that he doesn't actually die. No thanks to you, though."
"Stop this," my father spoke up quietly.
"Por favor, padre," I sighed, "I have a job interview today, so I have to leave early, I'll be back tomorrow morning, and I promise I'll find the money to pay for your treatment. I love you."
"Thank you Rosalyn, I love you too," he managed to say, before having another coughing fit.
I was near tears by the time I reached the parking lot. I hated seeing him like that and I knew his heart would break down after my mother's death, but I didn't expect it to be this soon.
I was dressed in my mother's favorite dress which I always wore on important days, and today, I had a job interview as a maid for the most successful Business Company owner in town, Kings' Corporations and I really wanted to get it, because it apparently pays very well.
I walked into the building with my head held high as I entered the reception and walked up to the receptionist's desk.
"Welcome to Kings' Corporation, how may i help you?" the receptionist asked me in probably the most monotone voice I've ever heard."
"I'm Rosalyn Garcia, I'm here for the job interview as the maid."
"Oh, I thought you were someone important, take a seat, someone will be with you in a moment."
Alexander's POV
"I'm looking for my father, have you seen him?" I asked my assistant.
"Yes, he's in the conference room, but he's in a meeting," she answered.
"Thank you Katherine."
"No problem Mr. Kings." I smiled at her before walking to the conference room which was down the hall.
"Hello Father," I greeted my father as I walked into the room filled with men in suits.
"Hello son. Didn't Katherine tell you that I was in a meeting?" my father asked me, giving apologetic smiles to his associates.
"Yes she did, and I wanted to tell you that I'm going to lunch with Kiera, like right now."
"Son, can't you find anything more valuable to do with your time, than hang out with that girl?" my dad said, looking at me with a disappointed look on his face.
"That girl is my girlfriend an has been for two years, Father," I replied, raising my eyebrows in shock at his sudden outburst.
"I know son, and I'm sorry. You can go ahead on the lunch but there's a lot of work to be done and I need you back here immediately."
"Well, I was planning on taking Kiera out shopping, so I was planning to be out for the whole day."
"Well, cancel. Take her out on the weekend, you still have responsibilities and I will not allow you to neglect them due to a relationship."
"Yes Father," I sighed, before walking out of the room and down to the reception.
"Good afternoon Mr. Kings. Having a nice day so far?" the receptionist greeted me.
"I'm having a lovely day..." what was her name again? "Thanks for asking."
I replied, looking around the well furnished reception and spotting a young girl sitting on one of the expensive chairs, "Who is that?" I asked, gesturing to the girl.
"That is...Rosalyn Garcia." she replied, after looking it up on her computer.
"What's she doing here?"
"Well, you were looking for a maid for your house and she applied."
"So what's she sitting down here for?"
"She's waiting for her interview sir."
"What's the point? She doesn't need to have a degree or two years work experience to be a maid, does she?"
"No sir."
"So tell her to leave, we don't need her getting our 3 thousand dollar chairs dirty, do we?"
"No sir."
"Good. Have a nice day then." I announced, making my way out of the building and into my black Chevrolet Camaro.
The perks of being rich, right there.
