Not Bad Joe

Time to myself

The rain was pouring it down again for the 3rd time that night, Alex laid in bed just staring at the ceiling listening to the pitter patter as each drop tapped against her window.
The day had been a stressful one, the cafe was busy and having to serve 5 different tables all at the same time was near enough impossible, plus the customers were so rude and barely left a tip.

Alex decided to go downstairs; make tea and hopefully find something good to watch so she can unwind,
The kettle whistled signifying that it was ready and she made her tea, walking back to the sofa Alex turned on the TV and the music channel was one, just as she was about to change the channel.

"In other news we have just heard that Fall Out Boy will be coming to Graham, Texas Joe Trohman spoke for the band about this" Alex spat out her tea and screamed as Joe came on screen as she has had a crush on him for as long as she can remember
"Fall Out Boy will be playing two concerts in Graham, Texas so get your tickets now! See you there" he then winked causing Alex to blush at the screen and the camera went back to the presenter.
"I have to get a ticket" Alex said, she then looked at the time, it was 11pm; "I should probably do it tomorrow morning"

After the show finished, she put her empty cup in the sink
"Do I want food? Can I be asked to make food?" Alex stood still for a second "why do I keep talking to myself?" She laughed.

After a thought she decided on having a slice of toast and watching one last show before bed, toast was plated and the show started, Family Guy's theme song began and Alex happily sang along.
Once it finished with Stewie trying to kill Lois again, Alex put her plate in the sink and went up stairs to bed, she set an alarm for 6:30am for work and so she could buy the tickets as soon as she woke up, after her alarm was set she layer down and went to sleep.

Alex woke with a start, sweat dripping down her face and back, "Another nightmare" she mumbled, her doctor said it was because of a the stress at work, she laid back down and looked at the time, 4:30am,
"great" she mumbled, she contemplated going back to sleep as she had to be up in two hours for work, her phone went off and saw that it was a twitter notification, Alex picked up her phone ;unlocked it; opened twitter and looked at her notifications. It was Joe.
'Just arrived in Graham, can't wait to see you all at the concert in 5 days'
Alex just stared at the screen, Joe was gonna be in her town for a whole 5 days this was amazing, she decided that now she was too excited to go back to sleep and went to go have an early bath, as the bath was running Alex got her phone and placed it on the shelf of the bathroom cabinet, so it was away from the water.
Just as she was about to get in, she pressed play and The Kids Aren't Alright started playing, Alex smiled to herself and began to sing along
"And in the end
I'd do it all again.
I think you're my best friend."

A whole Fall Out Boy album later, Alex got out of the bath and went to get dressed, better getting ready and being on time than being late, again.
As soon as the alarm went off, Alex went to the website and went to the ticket section, she wanted to stand near the stage, especially on Joe's side so she found the ticket she wanted and pressed order, after adding her details in, the notification popped up and said that the tickets were on there way, Alex just screamed in joy at the fact that soon she would see he idols and also be so close to Joe at the same time, she couldn't wait.

Alex made some quick toast and put her tea in a travel cup, she then left her house and made her way to work.
The cafe that Alex worked at was about a 10 minute walk, it was in the middle of her town so was frequently busy, although on some occasions (when she was lucky) it would only be a few people.
The whole walk there she couldn't stop thinking that Fall Out Boy was in her town at this exact moment, 'what if I bump into them?' She thought to herself, she then groaned internally when she saw her reflection in a shop window; Alex is beautiful, extremely so in fact but she hated her work uniform, it was a horrible shade of green and it just didn't work for her or anyone in fact.
"Can I help you?"
Alex snapped her head up and saw the shop owner staring at her with a confused and annoyed expression.
"Um, sorry I was just... Um, going" Alex mumbled and sped away her face red from embarrassment.

Finally she arrived to work, walked through the door and put her stuff away, she was greeted by the chef Brendon, he was a sweetheart but usually he was late with orders as he would talk to his boyfriend Ryan a lot.
"Hey, you look tired" he said leaning through the serving area
"Thanks, I try" Alex laughed "I didn't sleep that well"
Brendon just nodded at that
"Yeah, well this place can keep anyone up at night"
Alex nodded in response as a young woman came in and they both went back to there positions, Alex took the woman's order and went to give it to Brendon. As she had sorted with the customer, 3 middle aged men walked in and sat down, before Alex could get her note pad afednd pen she heard clicking and saw that one of the men were clicking at her
"Excuse me waitress, we want to be served"
Alex forced and smile and walked over to take their orders.
The day had just begun and she already hated it.
