Hi :D This story is my attempt to write something apart from my boring English article writing. It's completely original and please tell me what you think of it, even if you hate it. :P

Go ahead, enjoy! :)

Chapter 1 : Could it get any worse?

"Dare!"

I shouted, getting into mood of the oh-so famous game - Truth Or Dare. Lindsay cringed at the decibel of my voice, but I guess she should be used to it by now.

Lindsay is what I could, without hesitation, call my sidekick. Just kidding. I would never call her a sidekick, because I'm not lucky enough to be called a superhero. Psych, kidding again.

She's my best buddy. You know the people who've been with you since your diaper days? Yeah, she's one of those. No wait, let me rephrase that, she is the only one.

Yup, I'm Abby Waters, 17 and the most socially-awkward person who tends to weird the other person out before she even opens her mouth. How's Lindsay my friend, you ask? She's like me, though she happens to be the more mature one.

"Hm, let's see what I could dare you to do. . . Oh I know! I have the perfect dare for you as a payback!"

Oops, I guess she didn't really like the idea of licking peanut butter off a banana. Ugh, I have no clue she actually did it. I guess I'm in for it.

"I dare you to dress up as a guy and have a full one minute conversation with the first person we see at Starbucks."

Now, I would be lying if I said I'm good at making conversation. And conversing with a random stranger could turn out to be a disaster. But, I don't back down from dares, especially when chickening out would mean no pizza for a week. No, no, no. Pizza is like a cheesy, yummy, slice of goodness.

"Fine, I'll do it. But you better watch your back Linds."

"Of course you'll do it. But I'm going to dress you up."

Playfully glaring at her, I agreed. She started shuffling through my overflowing closet. You could call my parents rich. My dad's one of the most known cardiologist, while my mom is the CEO of her clothing company.

And that's why; most of the clothes are completely useless. Dresses, skirts, camisoles, crowd my closet, when I prefer wearing simple tank tops and jeans.

But what I like about my parents is that they never neglect me with their pile of work. Yeah, they're travelling most of the time and are hardly home but I don't mind. It's their work and I respect their decisions.

"Aha!" Lindsay shouted.

She held up a loose plaid red polo, and paired it with a pair of jeans. Grabbing a brown coloured wig and a thin moustache from my brother's closet (he's a drama fanatic), she tied up my hair in a bun and covered it with the wig and then put the moustache on.

I looked up at my reflection, and admired the guy version of myself. Albeit it did look a bit odd, I think it was satisfactory. I flicked my 'hair' and then gave Lindsay a smirk.

"You look pretty hot, Abby."

I laughed. "Thanks, 'babe'. Hah, this is actually going to be fun."

She grinned in response and we left for Starbucks. Within minutes, we reached. The chocolate aroma filled my nostrils as I stepped in, and the familiar jingle of bells rang.

A dog barked at the sound and my eyes landed on an old lady, who was reading a book and her dog was sitting near her legs.

"That's your cue, go on now. Oh and don't freak the Grandma out." Lindsay snickered.

I expected the conversation with an old lady not to be so bad, but well, luck is never on my side. As I approached the old lady, she looked up with a questioning look.

I had absolutely no idea what to talk to her, and me being the awkward person I am, blurted out something I regretted the next moment.

"Your dog is drooling." Her face changed from one of confusion to of shock. She looked down at her dog and her face contorted into a look of disgust. She ignored her dog's repulsive manners and looked up, "And you bother, because...?"

"I, uh. . .what book are you reading?" I sighed in relief when I gracefully dodged her question and asked something that made more sense. She looked at me weirdly and then pointed at the book's cover.

The cover said 'The Last Song' by Nicholas Sparks. Hm, I've read that. It's actually pretty good, but very sad towards the end because the father dies of cancer.

"WHAT?!"

I forgot to mention one more fact about myself; I have a habit of saying aloud stuff I think.

"Oops, I'm so sorry." I think she didn't appreciate the apology because, if looks could kill, I would be avada-kedavra-ed on the floor now.

"First, thank you for ruining the whole book for me, and second are you girl? Which boy reads such books?!"

The fact that I'm dressed as a guy and have just told the woman that I've read one of the girlish book possible is very embarrassing. But, she did think I was a boy, so that's a plus, amiright? With heat riding up my cheeks, I say,

"Uh, I'm just going to go now. . ." I hear her grumbling something, and I turned to leave, cursing Lindsay in my head.

I looked at Lindsay, and she was biting her lip, trying to controlling her laughter. While looking at her, I stepped on a puddle of water and slipped, almost loosing my wig. A loud laugh escaped Lindsay's mouth.

Awaiting the impact of hitting the ground, I closed my eyes. When I felt a strong pair of arms around my waist, my eyes shot up to meet sparkling blue orbs. His blue eyes were so captivating that I was getting lost in the swirls of blue.

With an awkward cough, I was snapped out of my trance and I saw the guy holding me getting extremely uncomfortable.

"Dude, you okay?"

The nameless hottie asked. Oh shit, he thinks I'm a guy. I hate you fate. He let go of me and stood awkwardly thinking of what to say.

"Yeah. Thanks, uh, dude." I gave him a small smile and walked off towards Lindsay who now had tears in her eyes from laughing.

"That. Was. Hilarious." Linds said between laughs. I grunted in response

"For you. Gosh, that topped my 'The Most Awkward Conversations'. That Grandma was so rude, but probably because I creeped her out."

I turned back to see, that the hot guy with blue eyes was now sitting with the old lady, and both of them were looking straight at me. She was giving me angry looks while Mr.HotBlueEyes had an amused smile. It was obvious that she was telling him about me. Huh, and I thought this couldn't get any worse.
