Ume kept on nudging me. I was sitting across Caillen while we ate at a fast food store.
"Kindly remind me why I'm here again." He said as he stared at Ume.
"To join our reunion date." She pointed at me. "Since you were the one who actually reunited us."
"Wasn't your reunion date the one that we had yesterday?" He was obviously annoyed.
Ume shook her head. "Nope, you treated us yesterday so that wasn't the date. We should be the one treating you ."
"Oh, so my food's practically free today?" Caillen leaned against the table.
"Yes." She answered happily. "Right Em Em?" She held my shoulders. Her eyes were saying "You want to treat your crush, right?". I just nodded nonetheless.
"Well, I have no arguments then." He stretched his arms.
"Good, you stay here and we'll buy the food. The usual?" Ume stood up and I did as well.
He nodded and shifted his gaze to the glass window.
Ume and I went in line to order our food.
"What will you do if you learned that Kei likes you back?" She whispered.
"Huh? What? I don't--- I don't know." I'm pretty sure I'm blushing right now.
"Jesus Christ Em Em." She ran her hands through her fringe like Caillen does. "You have to be a shark you know. You have a lot of rivals."
"I'm not trying to get him as my boyfriend or anything." I responded.
"Deep inside, I know you're kinda hoping for that." She winked at me.
I glared at her. "I am not."
She made a funny face, which made me laugh.
When we went back to our table, I noticed that Caillen was on his phone, typing something that looked like a message.
"Who you talkin' to Kei?" Ume asked as she placed the tray on the side of the table.
"Aya." Caillen pulled the tray closer to him and arranged the food according to our seats.
Aya? Who's that?
"Oh, that piece of shit rarely replies." Ume sat down after I did.
"He's currently having a problem adjusting he's guitar strings so he's asking if he could drop by here." Caillen glanced at his phone, probably checking for a reply.
Ah, so it's a he.
"He can't drop by. Nope, nope." Ume shook her head while she puts the straw into the cover of her vanilla shake. "He ain't allowed. No shit."
"Too bad, I already said he could." He opened the container of his food.
"The fuck?" Ume drank half of her vanilla shake.
I looked at her. "Who's Aya?"
"A classmate of his." She pouted and narrowed her eyes.
"A classmate of mine whom she admires." Caillen smirked.
She glared at him. "I do not admire that piece of shit."
Caillen leaned against the back of the chair and cleared his throat. "That piece of shit is the guy who looks like your husband from that volleyball anime you're currently obsessed with."
"You have a crush on a real guy?" I turned sideways too fast that even the chair I'm sitting on moved.
"What?! No, the fuck? Hell no." She made a disgusted face.
