1 - Goodbye Life

------------Tanner's POV------------

Why does he have to have a play tonight? I had plans with my friend to play Call Of Duty and watch the Grudge. Now I have to sit and watch this dumb Grease play that I've seen way too many times.

We get into the auditorium and Auda sits by me with Mom next to her and Dad next to me. Of course, Liu has the second best male role so it was 'mandatory' that we came.

At the end of the play when Liu had exited to get ready to leave, a man comes hobbling onto the stage. He looks like his skin is rotting, he has blood all over his body and there are tears everywhere on his body. His moves are staggered and weird gurgling sounds keep coming from his mouth. My first thought is that he's a really good actor but then I start thinking zombie.

My thoughts are kind of confirmed when everyone starts screaming and running. While everyone runs away from the stage, I run towards. I have to find Liu and make sure he's safe.

I jump up onto the stage and go in back. I find the monster going straight towards him and react quickly. I grab a pair of scissors from the desk nearby and plunge them into the top of its head. The monster falls and I stand there in shock.

Then I feel arms quickly wrap around my neck. "Thank you, Tanner, you're the best sister ever." He whispers in my ear and I am pulled out of my frozen state.

I pull away. "Hugs come later, we need to get our family out of here. Did Mom teach you anything about combat?"

"Only how to shoot a pistol really." He says questioningly. He obviously doesn't know where I'm getting at.

I grab his hand and start dragging him out. By now there are a bunch of the zom- monsters. They're too fast to be called zombies, maybe Roamers is a good name.

I spot Auda and run straight to her with Liu right behind me. I grab her to calm her down and make sure she knows it's me.

"Auda, where are Mom and Dad?" She trembles in my arms and points over to a hoard. Were they overcome?

"There they are!" Liu starts shaking my shoulder and I see them on stage.

We start running to them. "Mommy, Daddy!" Auda yells and we run. They turn to us and then a Roamer attacks. It bites Dad's shoulder causing him to yell out in pain. Mom screams and then another bites her neck. I quickly grab Liu's hand and start running out with a little crying Auda in my arms.

We had to get home so we headed to the woods. Our family didn't have the money to buy a house so Dad chopped down trees and made the house with the help from us. Mom was in the military and Dad was a lumberjack.

We get to the house and immediately start packing essentials. We decided we each could have a backpack and duffel bag with as much as we could carry. After I got some clothes, food, water, and other trinkets I went down to the basement to grab weapons. I grab as much of a variety as I could and Liu helped too. I pack all the other stuff in the backpack as much as possible and I ended up being able to carry almost all the weapons. We gave Auda a pocket knife just so she felt safer and started heading to town.

"Tanner, I'm tired!" Auda called out. She was way behind.
We were in Atlanta and there were a lot of Roamers. "Auda, keep your voice down!" I scolded quietly. "I think we found a place," I said and she perked up.
