Don't Go~Bring Me The Horizon
Blasted through my earbuds as I biked down the road to the Bakery I worked at, Taylor this Taylor that! Not there I could be myself and earn money for collage. Above the sound of BMTH I could hear my bikes tires turning on the rough broken down sidewalk, hearing the rocks crumbling quietly beneath the wheels of my bicycle.
When I made it there I locked my bike on one of the fire escape ladders, we never went up there so there was no point, Alex smoked up there and that's about it. Alex was the manager at our bakery, he was the best for the job he loved it there the only thing that held him back from getting the raise he has been up for is smoke breaks, otherwise he would have that raise.
As I opened the door I could already smell all the cookies, doughnuts, cakes and other treats immediately. I walked in wrapped by the warm air like a big soft blanket.
"Jase," I asked into the shop, "you there dude?"
A familiar face popped up from behind the counter staring directly at me.
"Oh-" Jase gave me a worried look, "I uhhhhh-"
"Lost something..?" I asked, Jase had always been forgetful and lost almost anything, that's why he stays at the register.
"The register keys..." he stood up looking down at the floor in shame.
"Again? Jase did you check your lanyard?" I asked nonchalantly. He looked down and saw the keys around his lanyard along with many pins and keychains.
"Oh-" he said, quickly realising he made a fool of himself. "Please do-"
"Don't tell Alex, got it." I said continuing across the shop to the kitchen where I found a very messy Drake.
"Oh-! Hey Taylor!" he said nervouly trying to look casual by leaning on the counter. Unfortunately he went hand first into a freshly baked cake.
"Drake I think that's going to be taken out of your paycheck..." I said pointing, Drake realised what he had done and panicked. Of course today is the day everything is going wrong, I walked out the back door looking for Alex hoping he could help us out inside whenever he went out for a break someone either made a fool of themselves, messes up an order, some food explodes, or something actually goes missing. When I closed the door I looked up seeing feet dangle from the roof, I started to climb the garbage bin and pull myself onto the roof as smoke started to enter my lungs.
"Taylor... You're an hour early..." Alex said, he told me he would try to stop smoking he knew I hated it.
"It's okay, if I hadn't gotten here the freezer would probably be on fire by now..." I chuckled, he laughed a bit too, I hoped his breathing wasn't getting bad again, I cared he was like the brother I had never gotten. I heard Heaven Knows~The Pretty Reckless playing from his loose headphone, I reached over and grabbed it putting it in my ear my long curly, messy, dark pony brushing and dragging on his shoulder, he wrapped one arm around my shoulder swaying back and forth as he hummed the tune. Soon after I joined him singing.
"Jimmy's in the back with a pocket of high, if you listen close you can hear him cry. Oh lord heaven knows we all belong way down below, sing it. Ohhh heaven knows we belong way down below, way down below, way down below... Judy's in the front she pickin' up trash, livin' on a dol' gotta make that cash, won't be pretty, won't be sweet, she's just sittin' 'ere on her feet singing. Oh lord heaven knows we belong way down below. Go." singing together was something we did, it was fun we were close it was good for us, having someone to lean on.
