And I'm freee,

Free Fallin, Fallin (x2)

I ended the song strumming the last chords on my guitar. The huge gathering of people around me cheered as I ended the acoustic version of John Mayer's Free Falling. I always felt happy when the i finished a song and that happiness grew as the crowd cheered. I smiled, waving at them. I heard a voice calling me from the crowd and looking around, i saw that it was my sister. I waved to the crowd before making my way towards her.

''That was great, Val.'' My nineteen years old elder sister, Ava told me the minute i reached her, pulling me into a hug.

''Thanks,'' i said beaming at the compliment.

''But we have to hurry, dad will be home soon,'' she said a concerned look replacing her happy one.

We got into the cab together, giving the audience one last wave as the people started to scatter.

''Valerie Ames, you were amazing out there,'' Ava said to the me affectionately patting my  blonde head.

''And you, Avangeline Ames are amazing for making this possible,'' I said giggling at my  older sister, while playing with her brunette locks, twirling them in my fingers.

''Don't call me Avangeline, call me Ava,'' Ava replied wrinkling her nose at her full name. I chuckled at her reaction. I always called her by her full name to tease her.

''Val, are you tired?'' she asked.

''Yeah,''i replied, yawning.

''Close your eyes, i'll wake you up when we got home.''

''Mmmm..'' i mumbled, already drifting off on her shoulder.

''Wake up, Val, hurry, go hide your guitar.''

After a few minutes Ava shook my sleeping form, then got out of the cab, fishing the guitar case from the boot. I rubbed her eyes and payed the cab driver, telling him to keep the tip.

I ran into the tiny wooden house and went straight up to the small store room. I lifted up a loose floorboard prying it's nails and  managed to somehow push the guitar case inside. After putting  it back on, I  went to join Ava who was now waiting with a worried and impatient look on her delicate features.

The front door slammed as a grim-looking man with a tall silhouette entered the small living room. The man had a slight stubble and thin-rimmed glasses, his dark eyes were intimidating to anyone on the outside. He was tall, very tall for someone in his 40's and  looked like someone in his early sixties. He was dressed in a long brown coat, which was common in London. He looked at the the two of us with a grim expression.

''Hello father,'' both of us chorused respectively in sync. He simply nodded and said,''Hello Valerie.''  He then turned to Ava, ''Hello Avangeline.''

When he said that, I could feel Ava  flinch beside me when he called her full name.

His sharp eyes then turned to me for a moment, a hint of suspicion showing in them.  My heartbeat quickened slightly thinking that he knew. I forced myself to calm down and stop jumping to conclusions.

He then turned and walked in swift motions into his study, disappeared behind the huge and gloomy door.

I breathed a huge sigh of relief.

''Whew! That was close, for a minute i thought he knew.''

''Hmm,'' Ava mumbled back at me , while tying her shoulder-length hair into a lumpy ponytail. She sighed, neither girl understood their father's strong hatred towards music. He had forbidden them from doing anything related to music, heck he had even personally came to their school to stop their music lessons. But Ava knew my passion for music and my talent to sing so she secretly arranged street gigs for me.

Kissing me  on the head, she went into the kitchen and took out the spaghetti bolognese. After heating it and taking it out in two bowls, she handed one to me and took the other one for herself. I took out the forks from the cabinet and handed one to her.

''So, Ava, when is the next gig booked for?'' I asked.

''On Saturday at night.''

''Where did you book it this time?''

''Oxford Street,'' she said grinning, knowing that i had been wanting to perform there for quite some time.

''Seriously?!? OhmyGod, OhmyGod, OhmyGod'', I squealed jumping into her arms and squeezing her.

''Va....l'', she gasped, ''Can't breathe...''

''Oh, sorry,'' I stepped back and let go of her.

We finished the rest of our spaghetti while Ava talked about how we would manage to sneak past father to go for my gig. After finishing, i washed the plates while Ava dried them. She then took out her books to study for her upcoming exams.

''I'm going to the park, Ava,'' I called as i was heading out the back door with my guitar case in hand. The park was usually where i practiced for my upcoming gigs. When i would feel lost and down, i would sit on the swings which reminded me of my childhood with my mom. Those were the times when we were truly happy.

''Ok, come home early and don't forget to take the keys,'' she replied from her place on the couch.

I rolled my eyes. Ever since our mother died, five years ago, Ava had unofficially taken up the role of being my mother and taking care of the house. I won't lie, she can be overbearing and overprotective, but i was glad i had someone to look after me when i was twelve.

I grabbed my keys and shut the door with my foot. I shivered as the cool night air instantly hit me and pulled my coat tightly around me. My hair was tied in a high ponytail and i was wearing my favourite sweater with my jeans.

I walked for five minutes and then turned the corner which led me to the entrance of the park. I found a vacant bench and sat down. I pulled out my guitar and started strumming. I was thinking about performing an original song of mine on Saturday. I had decided on the basic tune but couldn't think of the lyrics.

I got up, sighing frustratedly, running a hand through my blond curls and messing my ponytail. I went over to the swing and left my guitar on the bench. I was swinging slowly, looking at the sky, for about five minutes, when i saw some movement out of the corner of my left eye. I turned and saw a man in a black hoodie and cap, grabbing my guitar case, my expensive guitar case which my mother had given me, and running away with it.

''Hey!'' I shouted, getting off the swing and running after him. I had been running after him for about 5 seconds when he turned a corner and that's when i saw a perfect opportunity to jump on him.

I pushed my legs harder, every muscle in my body aching, and leaped towards him. I fell on top of him and we both groaned. He let go of my guitar case and got up pushing me off of him. I fell slightly back, massaging my legs and wincing slightly at my scraped knee as i got up.

''Give it back!'' I said as i tried to take my guitar case from him, which he had picked up again.

He shoved me roughly into the wall and a small gasp escaped my lips as my head and shoulder made contact with the wall.

He was about to run away again when he saw that i couldn't get up again.

He had just turned when there was a cracking sound and the man's limp body fell to the ground, my guitar case slipping from his hand. I looked up, wincing at the throbbing pain in my head and saw a man looming over my head.

The last thing i saw was deep green eyes staring at me before i gave in to the pain and let darkness consume me.
