"Hudson is running with the ball. The Red Socks are pursuing him. He's running faster! Will he make it? It's only up to Jeff Hudson! Will he strike? WILL HE? The agony is rising.. And GOAAAAAL! One more amazing performance by Jeff Hudson, the star of our school's rugby team! Jefferson high is proud for you, Hudson!" The crowd was screaming as they pleased for the win of their team, but I don't think the Red Sock's fans were this happy about it. Jeff immediately ran out of the court approaching his girlfriend, Jen. She jumped into his muscly arms and kissed him. "You were amazing!" She said as her long straight hair got into her eyes.
Jen was, with no doubt, the prettiest girl on Jefferson high. Tall, with a great body, brown hair and green eyes, she was every boy's fantasy. But I guess her only fantasy was a boy like Jeff. He had black messy hair and a pair of sparkling light blue eyes! Only his face was enough to make your heart race! Jen and Jeff have been together since they were freshmen, and now that they are in senior year, nearly everybody was jealous of their love. Especially because nearly every boy wanted to be in Jeff's place and nearly every girl wanted to be in Jen's.
Jeff was not a very good student, although he was very smart. He depended on his sports scholarship. Being leader of the schools rugby team he was also very popular. He had a lot of friends, all of them members of the rugby team as well. Most of his friends were bullies, something that made Jeff really angry. He didn't want to lose the leadership of his team though, so he just went on with it.
"Get out of my way fat punk!" Shouted Olly, Jeff's best friend as he pushed a short guy making him hit the school's wall and nosebleed. "What was that for?" "Shut up Jeff, like you don't know what he did!" Said Olly as his big donkey teeth stood out of his mouth like trees on a cliff's edge. "I did nothing wrong!" cried the poor guy as he tried to stop the bleeding. He tried to get up but Olly's boot stopped his face and pushed him back on the wall. "NOBODY rolls his eyes at Jefferson high's rugby team co-leader! Next time I'm going to break your nose, ok fatty?" shouted Olly as one of his veins stood out of his thick neck.
"That's enough Olly! Leave this kid alone, he did nothing wrong! You're just a stupid loner! And put some braces on you ugly hobbit!" shouted Jeff. Well, in his mind, so he was the only one able to hear this. He didn't want to get in a fight with Olly because he knew he could not win him. Six feet tall, the size of a male bear and with the face of a horse, Olly was straight out of Greek mythology. If only Jeff could stand up to him and his stupid bullying. Unfortunately, this would mean him getting all the bullying, losing his place in the rugby team and even leaving Jefferson high. And leaving Jefferson high meant leaving Jen too! The only person on earth but his mother that could easily understand him. Like he didn't know Olly was in love with Jen! He could easily tell by the way Olly's eyes sparkled when he saw her! Oh when he looked at her like that, rage was filling Jeff from bottom to the top.
The upcoming Friday, it was not only Jen's birthday but Jeff's and Jen's 3 year anniversary. Jen was going to have a really big birthday party and everybody was excited! It wasn't an event to miss! As the days passed Jeff was planning the best way to give his girlfriend her gift for her 18th birthday and their anniversary. By Friday morning he had everything set up. He would show up to her party and take her to a deserted highway at the nearby hill. Then he would make her close her eyes and he would kneel and propose in the middle of a heart shaped of candles. He didn't want to wait anymore, the love of his life was right in front of him and he had to act fast, and their anniversary was the best opportunity he ever had.
Bingo! Jeff thought as the cold water ran across his muscular body. He quickly got out of the shower and opened his big cupboard. After a few minutes of searching he finally found it. The shirt Jen had bought him on their first anniversary. It was the perfect shirt to wear. It was only one hour before Jens birthday party. He put on his favorite pair of jeans and a lot of cologne. Brushed his teeth and hair, and was ready. He put the ring on his back pocket and was ready to go! "My baby is not a baby anymore!" said his mother as she walked him out of the house. A tear sled on her cheek and fell on the ground. "Mum please, I'm just proposing to my girlfriend, it's not like I'm going to Iraq or anything" Jeff laughed. He immediately got into his dads jeep and drove off.
While driving, he imagined how life with Jen would be. Waking up to her beautiful face every morning, seeing her slowly open her eyes and get up, wash her face, make breakfast. He imagined going at road trips with her. Watching her fall asleep as he drove somewhere. Travelling with no maps. He imagined how it would be to have a child with her. A daughter. Oh, she would be beautiful. Really beautiful. He and Jen would grow old together. Die together. But he could never imagine that as he drove to her house going to her birthday party, she would jump in the street, high and drunk, and he would hit her with his car.
