Chapter 20: Hospital Troubles
[Lisa P.O.V]
Nothing hurt me more.
Not even Shane breaking up with me. And that hurt like hell.
This was worse.
Because for once in my life I had no idea what would happen.
I feel like trying to help Shane out…was hurting him.
When Mike dropped me off he told me something that continued to ring through my head the entire night.
If I were you, I’d stop. Stop trying to help Shane. I know what you’re doing here Lisa. Just stay out of it.
How could he have found out so easily?
Was I that terrible of acting like I wanted to help Mike?
Or did I just care too much.
Either way, the thought killed.
That I could have ruined everything.
I lie down on the bed and roll over.
Two weeks ago, Shane was here with me. I finally felt like I had a family. Like I had a future with him. But that’s all gone now. It’s a blur. A horrible distant blur. I almost wish I could just drink the pain away…like I use to. But that caused so many problems. Especially with our relationship. And my life.
My phone goes off just as a close my eyes. It better not be Mike…
“Hello?”
“Hey Lisa…it’s Shane.”
“Oh hey. What’s up?”
“Well good news…my mom is officially awake.”
“Oh my gosh Shane that’s wonderful!”
“I really owe you one Lisa. You helped her live…”
“No Shane really…it’s okay. You really don’t have to give me anything…”
“No I do. You saved her life.”
“I know…”
“Hey are you alright?”
I tried to keep calm but my hands starting shaking.
“When are you visiting you’re new apartment?”
“Wait what…? How did you know-?”
“Your mom told me.”
“Oh um…tomorrow. I was going tomorrow afternoon with my mom and Joey…why?”
“Just be careful…okay?”
“Okay Lisa. Thank you.”
I wish I could mean this…
“You’re welcome. I’ll see you tomorrow at the hospital.”
“Okay. Goodnight.”
It was 1 a.m. So I close my eyes and try to go to sleep. But once again it continued.
