"What do you even want to buy you some slaves for, Chris?" Adam ask as they make their way to Chris's car. "You know slavery isn't right."

"I'm not looking to buy slaves, Adam. I need hired workers for the ranch." Chris tells his younger brother as they drive toward town to the public slave auction. "Most slaves are trained to be good workers. They will be hired hands, not slaves."

As they find a place to park, the town square fills quickly with people hoping to get the best bargain on a slave.

"Just look at these savages." Adam says as they make their way through the crowd, trying to find a good place to stand. "Do they not realize that they are bidding to buy a human being and not a prize cow?" Adam grumbles to his brother.

As the auction begins, Adam watches each man or woman, as they are brought to the stage to auction off. They were being announced by numbers not by name. His heart breaks for each one. The pure sadness on their faces was enough to make a grown man cry. But these savages were screaming out dollar amounts as if they were bidding on a famous piece of art.

Chris manages to purchase two very strong looking workers.

"Can we go now? This just makes me sick." Adam says, whispering to his brother.

"Next up for bid we have Slave 159 owned by Mr. Christopher Walken.  Slave 159 is 34 years old, he's been well trained and well disciplined." The auctioneer announced. "Now, who'll start the bidding?"

"You ready to go?" Chris ask.

Adam holds up his hand, telling his brother to wait. He could not take his eyes off of the man on the stage.

His dirty long dark brown hair hung down to his slumped shoulders. Light whiskers covers his jawline along with a beard and mustache. He stood in shackles with a leash around his neck being held by his owner. His head was bowed and his eyes closed. A broken man with the face of a angel.

Before Adam even realized what he was doing, he holds his hand up to place his bid. He wasn't even sure what the dollar amount was. He didn't care.

"You know you're bidding on that slave, right?" Chris ask, shocked by his brother's actions.

"Yep." Adam answers. "He's scared to death, Chris. You can literally see him shaking. I got to help him."

"Alright." Chris says shaking his head. "But you know he's going top dollar."

"I don't care." Adam says still staring at the slave on the stage. "I can afford it."

"GOING ONCE! GOING TWICE!! SOLD!! TO MR. ADAM RUPP!!" The auctioneer shouted.

Walken smirks at the high dollar that the slave brought. He pulls him off the stage as if he was leading a dog on a lease.

The slaves were being kept in a holding area until their new owners came for them.

Chris and Adam pays the money they owe and walks inside the holding area. An official walks in with them.

"I need Slave 426 and Slave 032. " The official Darren calls out.

Two men stands and walks forward.

"This is your new owner, Chris Rupp." Darren says.

"You're new boss." Chris corrects him, smiling at the two men.

"I also need Slave 159." Darren calls out.

The man with the long dirty hair stands as his old owner removes the shackles. He hands him a brown paper bag then leads him over using the leash.

"Nice doing business with you, Mr. Rupp." Walken smirks, handing Adam the end of the leash.

Adam sighs, reaching up and unbuckles the leash. The slave was still looking at the ground not allowing himself to make eye contact with his new master.

"My name is Adam." Adam says softly as he takes the collar off from around the slaves neck. "You're going home with me. Understand?"

The slave gives a slight nod and licks his dry lips.

"I don't think he's gonna need this any more." Adam says as he pitches the leash to Walken.

"Suit yourself." Walken laughs and walks away.

The two men that Chris had purchased got in the back seat of the car, each with one beat up suit case.

They were eagerly talking about the jobs that they were going to actually get paid for.

Adam scoots over in the middle of the front seat allowing the slave to sit near the door.

The slave holds the bag as he stares out the window.

"So what's your name?" Adam ask, realizing he hasn't heard the man say one word. He wasn't even sure he could talk.

The man shifts uncomfortably in the seat and clears his throat. "I'm... I'm not allowed to use my name." He says softly, rubbing his soar wrist.

"Walken doesn't own you anymore." Adam says. "I have to know what to call you. I'm not gonna hurt you."

The man lets out a shaky breath. "My name... my name is Tim." He says quietly.

"Well, see that wasn't so hard, was it? I'm pleased to meet you, Tim." Adam smiles then looks down at the bag. "So what's in the bag?"

Tim pulls the bag closer to him. "My clothes."
