Angel, or Demon?

(Adam's POV)

There are no such things as humans among humanity.

There are no such things as humans.

There are no such things.

None.

I walk these streets everyday, seeing the filth of society. Of what the people of this world do to one another.

How they hurt one another, how they hate and use their wrath to destroy others.

Only Angels don't destroy. Unfortunately, when they came down from heaven to try and help the human race, they were immediately taken as slaves. Luckily, demons are smarter.

My father, (who is a demon), came up to just blend in with the humans. Then, he met my mother, (who's an Angel). And, ironically, they had me.

Yes, I'm half Angel, and half demon. But, I've got all the strengths of both races, no weaknesses. I'm powerful, intelligent, and alluring. Unfortunately, I am too attractive. I know because I've caught people staring. And in this new world, demons are prizes, and angels are slaves.

How did this come to be? Well, let me tell you.

When the angels came down, they had no clue what they were going to encounter. They don't watch very closely. But I don't blame them. It's hard to watch seven billion people at once. Angels think that everyone is innocent and pure and kind. Well, they're not.

I've watched the humans from the depths of Hell, and I've seen what the do to one another. It sickens us as well. Well, more me than any other demon. I'm half angel and half demon. I know what you must be thinking. What angel would ever mate with a demon? Well, my parents did. And here I am.

I've been on earth for about a century. Most angels have been stuck here for four decades. It's hard to watch them be abused, but it happens. I've seen the human masters beat their angel slaves. Some have ripped their wings off, some take away their innocence and their halos, (demons or other angels can see them, humans can't), fall off. It's quite sad...because they're partially my people, but so are the demons.

I light a cigarette and lean back against a brick wall. It's easy to see why we're used as entertainment. I mean, we're dangerous and pretty, so, demons are used for showing off and all other kinds of things. Luckily, no one has seen my beauty, and captured me. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

Many of us become recluse because of how bad it is. I love being by myself anyways. It's better anyways. "Yo, Adam!" I hear someone my name and I look up to find it's Isaac. He's a demon-human hybrid. "Hey man, where have you been?"

"At my apartment. You know I don't come out often." I tell him and he shrugs.

"Well, it's nighttime, let's go to a bar or something."

"Already ahead of you. I called a cab." I tell him and he smiles a bit.

"Sweet. When is it coming?"

"Soon." I tell him, taking another drag of my cigarette.

"Man, when do you think these humans are gonna stop hurting the angels? And the demons?" I shrug and release a long breath.

"I dunno. It could stop tomorrow or take another century. I just know that it's been going on for a the past forty years. Those angels will die soon. Most die when their wings are stripped from them." I say and he nods.

"True. What do you think they go through, everyday?" He asks and I shake my head.

"I don't want to know. It's hard enough knowing that they're being used for slavery and are also being tortured." I say and he nods then sighs.
