Today I decided to take Jazz to the park after school. The classes went by quickly and we were soon walking back home.
Jazz ran ahead and I laughed at my crazy sister. She raced up the steps to our apartment. I followed and unlocked the door.
"Jazz, go change and I will take you to the park and we can get ice cream".
"Yay, ice cream! You're the best older sibling ever!"
Jazz skipped to her room humming. I walked into the kitchen, and wrote a note for mom.
Mom, took Jazz to park. Then out for ice cream. Will be back soon.
-Kaid

I placed the note on the table. Jazz came to the door and we left.
The walk to the park was uneventful except for the man who seemed to be following us. He was tall, wore a black suit and strongly resembled an angry bear. His sunglasses concealed most of his face.
I told Jazz to speed up, she tried to look behind but I wouldn't let her. I grabbed her hand and led her through a series of confusing turns. I looked back to see the man still following us.
Jazz moved closer to me and I whispered to her,"Make a run for it".
Jazz nodded and we ran. Dodging around hoards of angry New Yorkers, we ran into a coffee shop. I quickly ran to the barista.

"There's a man following us, please help."

She looked at me and smiled wickedly. "Why help you when I can kill you?"

The air grew cold and the atmosphere became dark. A crackling sound filled the room as the barista's skin began to dry and chip off like clay. She was screaming as she tore off the dry skin. She had turned into a nasty creature with wings and talons.

The creature flew towards Jazz and I. Terror flooded me. I was defenseless with no way to protect Jazz. The creature dived at us, fire spewing from its mouth. I grabbed Jazz and slid under a table.

A sensation built inside me. A ball of fear and rage. I knew I had to kill this creature, but I didn't know how. A faint voice floated in my head.

"Kaid focus your energy on the floor".

I closed my eyes and focused on the floor. Suddenly the coffee shop began to shake. The floor started to crack. There was a loud battle cry as skeleton soldiers emerged from the fissure. I watched, stunned.

Jazz looked at me then at the soldiers. The leader was on a massive skeleton horse. Holding his sword high, he ordered the soldiers to charge. They took down the creature. Hacking at her with swords, black blood oozed from the wounds. The creature screamed in pain. Then the leader hoisted his sword over his head. He brought it down on the creature's neck. Severing the head. The creature disappeared into a cloud of dust.

The door bell rang as the man from earlier came in. He looked at me, took his sunglasses off and said,"Kaid we need to talk."
