Moving in and standing out

Today's the day. The day we move to an unknown city, with unknown people, doing unknown things. What lies ahead of our future are many great events, but unknown events nonetheless.

I sit in the back seat of this truck; stuff clustered everywhere, surrounding me in despair. I'm not sure what's to come once we're done in this place. After all, I do belong to a very nomadic family. We'll live here for a while; and once I'm already comfortably situated, we'll be well on our way to the next "home".

I say this because I've never really had a home. Nothing to look forward to when I come home from a school in which I had no friends, nothing that makes me feel at peace when my world feels like it's suddenly falling down. It's a house, Not a home.

In that case, I guess I don't really know what a home is. You can't know for sure until you've found it. Some say home is where the people you love are. Others say home is where you feel safe, relaxed. But what if you have nobody to love? What if you don't feel safe anywhere, and you're always full of stress?

What can be done then? How do you find your "happy place" when your reality is the complete opposite?

You can dream of how things would be if they were different; but when you wake up, you'll be sadly disappointed that your fancy little dream of being married with 2 kids and a house with a white picket fence, was just that. A DREAM.

You can fantasize all you want. But the only thing you can do is deal with what you have, and try to make it better. Although no matter what I do, it's never good enough. There's always going to be that one person that is just better than you in everything.

Everywhere you turn, you seem to follow in people's footsteps; stand behind their shadow. And you can't seem to grasp a hold on your own life. Atleast not without budding into someone elses.
