Closing Your Eyes Doesn't Help You to See

Keep your rain; we'll take the thunder.

Grab the clouds and pull them under;

Into our new hope of salvation.

A newness uncovered, a new generation.

Grasp tight to the bottles of ships stolen from me,

Closing your eyes doesn't help you to see.

Forget what we've lost, there's no turning back,

We fight for our pride, our minds faded black.

And yet things unsolved continue in glue,

Thick like the wet cement that sinks under you.

Imprints of footprints lost shoes and new causes,

A pat on the back to comfort your losses.
