She stands on the shore
Watching the waves
Wondering if  anyone will hear her
Through the shattered glass and broken doors
Through the "I'm fine"s and
"I'm okay"s
Through the blue eyes that disguise the hurt

She escapes to a secret room
Where she sits by the window
Wonders if anyone will listen
To the screams locked inside  an ivory tune
To the calls for help played by that piano
To the hints she leaves that everyone seems to be missing

One by one the hints she left
Became nothing but  notes on a page
No one could put together the pieces
The broken heart was nothing but a bass clef
Little did they know soon it would be too late
Too wrapped  up in society to say the least
Listen as you walk on by
And you just might find
Something that wasn't there before
Look closely at everything you see
But not too close because then the less you'll see
He walks on the dusty bank
Just outside of nowhere
Wonders if anyone will notice
The hurt he feels when he sees their blank stares
The scars on his arms that leave him hopeless
He found sanctuary in a sketchbook
Where he hid clues among the starry skies
Wonders when anyone will look beyond  those stars
Look beyond the hues and fix the smile that they took
Look at the darkness and hear the silent cries
Look between the lines and see how his world slowly falls apart
He and her walk by the thousands
All go unnoticed, overlooked, and ignored
Wonder if they will ever be heard
The cries that are silent are the loudest

Determined, they all stand together
By the broken shore
Ready to give their last attempt
Here lies their last shattered door
That heeds the sounds of the silent.
