I was busy putting my stuff on my locker when I saw a tall guy lean on the wall next to my locker. "Ready for your first day?" My brother, Kai, asked.
I gave him a confident smirk and said: "Of course, I am Zoe Jackson after all." He rolled his eyes and messed my hair up. "Whatever you say, baby sister." I heard him mutter.
"Hey, I heard that!" I shouted and pouted. He laughed and surprised me with a hug. "Fine, I'll stop. Just do what you always do and break a leg." I looked up to him and asked: "Literally?"
"Yes please." he chuckled. I pinched his cheeks and hugged him back. "You too, my idiot of a brother."
We both let go of the hug. "Now, go." I quickly said. "After the hug and all of the encouragements, you're gonna kick me out?" he asked and raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, I'll be late because of you." I said and tried to push him away, but failed. "Fine, I'll leave, but be sure to call me when you see single, hot girls around." he commanded and eyed the girls passing by. "Yeah, yeah. Now leave." I replied.
"That's a promise, okay? Buh-bye, sister!" he shouted and ran his way out of the hallway. I rolled my eyes and closed my locker. I can't believe I have a childish big brother.
I was about to leave the hallway when a girl blocked my way. "Hi!" she greeted with a wide smile. "Uh-hello." I greeted back, and quickly walked around her, not wanting it to be more awkward.
"Hey, wait!" she shouted and ran towards me. I didn't stop, but I slowed down. "Not to be rude, but what do you want from me?" I asked. Instead of being offended, she just laughed.
"I didn't know I was being a bother, since I was just finding a friend," she said and scratched her nape. "But if I see you again, I will not let it pass and be the best friend you'll ever have."
"Why are you trying to be my friend?" I can't help but ask. Her eyes widen and her cheeks went red. "Cause you seem like a good friend to be with?" It seemed like a question rather than a statement. Huh.
"You're lying." I said and wrapped my hands over my chest. She looked around, trying to avoid eye contact, but eventually gave up.
"Fine, I just want to know the guy's name you're with earlier, but don't get me wrong, I really want to be your friend." she said continuously, making me laugh a little. "Don't forget to breath." I said as she nodded shyly.
"Kai." I mutter, but loud enough for her to hear. "What?" she asked. "The guy earlier, his name is Kai." I said and showed her a genuine smile. "Kai. Kai. Kai." I heard her mutter repeatedly. She looked at me and smiled back.
"Thanks for that, and by the way, my name's Alex." she said and held her hand out which I gladly accepted. "Zoe." I replied, and at the same time, the bell rang.
"Shoot, we're gonna be late if we don't move fast! What's your first class?" she asked, full of panic. I gave her my schedule. She looked at it and said: "English. We have the same class, thank goodness." she said.
She didn't let me speak, and pulled me with her. "We have to run if we don't want to be late." she said.
After a few steps and turns, we arrived at the classroom. We went in and thankfully, saw that the teacher wasn't there yet. We quickly sat beside each other in random seats and released a sigh of relief.
After a few minutes, a middle-aged woman came in the classroom, making all the students sit down on their seats. She put her books on her table and smiled at the class.
"Good morning, students. I am Gina North, but you can call me Miss North." she said in a professional tone. "Now I want to know all about my class. Let's start with-" she stopped when the door suddenly flickered open.
"See, I told you it started."
"Don't blame me, I was just following you.
"Shut up, you two!"
I don't know why, but the whole class went quiet, even Alex. Miss North cleared her throat and asked the boys who went in: "And who might you boys be?"
"Hello everybody, my name is John Harrison."
"The hottest guy you'll ever meet, Benedict Harrison."
"Adrian Harrison."
I gulped. They look like bad news.
"Oh, so you're brothers?" Miss North asked. "Isn't it obvious?" Adrian said and rolled his eyes. The teacher widen her eyes and cleared her throat. "O-okay, you may take your seats."
They all nodded and took their seats.
"Hey, is this seat taken?"
Great.
I'm doomed.
