His Voice

"Hello."

That voice. His voice. The sound that instantly brought back memories of dark rooms and many broken bones into her mind with blinding clarity. Of being thrown against a wall whenever she did something wrong, or nearly dying because he had beaten her repeatedly. She had seen five different therapists in order to suppress those memories. Now, it all came undone with that one word. She turned around, and realized that that was the last time she would escape with her life.
