Chapter 1 - Underestimation

I sighed at the large amount of geography homework that was projected in the hologram floating next to our teacher.

I hate geography. Like I need to know how small my city is, and the fact it's too small for us regular people have lavish houses. I always enviously marvel the beauties of a house larger than 800 square feet.

My chair creaked as I swung it backward fidgeting, imagining the minute hand on the clock grow arms and legs and jog around the clock face.

Lack of sleep and a crazy imagination do not mix well.

I managed to finish all my homework at 3:00 am and I'm not a night owl so I assure you that it is not good quality.

I looked up from my daze to the interactive screen again. My haggard appearance did not look good in the reflection of the bright light in the screen.

Swollen eyes with huge Prada bags underneath them, blegh. And no, I did not just get through a break up, like everyone assumes. Can't I just be tired in peace?

A high pitch giggle along with a shush interrupted my thoughts.

I strained my ears to hear the gossiping voices of Paige and Daniell.

"Oh Paigie, Paigie look at her! She looks as if she stayed up stalking Jacob forever!" Daniell giggled loudly.

Paige and Daniell loved assuming that I was trying for Paige's boyfriend, Jacob. A likely story, as far as I know, the only Jacob I ever loved was my aunt's old German Shepherd.

"Oh Danny, I'm far more preferable than that old hag." Paige smiled, tossing her pink and brown waves aside.

I turned away from Daniell sucking up to Paige and returned to my thoughts. Ya right, stalking takes only a few minutes! Err... not that I had any particular experience.

Suddenly a shrill ringing of the bell rang through the classroom, enhanced by the squeak of the metal chairs skidding backwards.

I grabbed everything that remains on my desk and plummeted my stuff in my backpack, swung the backpack behind me and clutched my geography book, kindle and laptop in my arms.

"Hurry up you losers!" I whispered-shouted to my mates who we're packing their books turtle speed.

"Gosh! Fancy you being fast!" Ingrid sneered at me.

I scowled at her.

"It is compulsory when the ERAYs have art class on the first floor, they stand there waiting for us to arrive." I explained.

"Alright, alright jeez! Calm your tits!" She grinned.

"Don't have any." I grinned back and step back so we can fist bump.

"As much as I enjoy seeing your growing friendship, I really don't want to be murdered by Acko." Vanessa said sarcastically.

I ignored Ing and Van glaring at each other and tapped the shoulder of the snail who was still packing her bag.

"Charlotte, please hurry the fuck up, we do not have all day."

"OI! OI! OI! MIND YOUR LANGUAGE!" My geography teacher yelled, popping out of nowhere.

I simpered a sorry and gave a what-the-hell look my friends.

As soon as he left, we all clutched our chests dramatically, trying to recover from that heart attack that our teacher gave us.

We didn't have much time at all, but luckily the art teacher loves keeping the ERAYs. Nevertheless I gave the others a look of urgency.

They all nodded at me and we trotted out the door.
