"Honey you need to hurry up, you really don't want to be late to school, and you especially don't want Ethan to have to wait for you in the driveway." My mom yelled up the stairs as I slipped into a pair of leggings.
"I'll be down in a minute!" I yelled slightly irritated. I love my mom, but she is always in a time crunch. Even at the store she'll walk slightly faster then my dad and I to get to the eggs.
I slowly made my way out the door to be greeted by my mom, who had a nice smile on her face that matched nicely with the rest of her.
"How did I get such a beautiful daughter?" she asked as she brushed a strand of beach blonde hair out of my face.
"I don't know, but she sure is beautiful." I said jokingly. she smiled and made her way to her bedroom, where she'd probably stay in for about thirty seconds before she's ready to commute to work.
I stumbled out the door sliding on a knee high boot. Ethan was always on time, and today was no exception.
"Hey Tay." he said as he the passenger side door. He always loves calling me that because it "reminds him of poetry, and poetry is beautiful, like me." It's cheesy, but cute.
"Hey" I said with all the energy I could have at 6 o'clock. School doesn't start till 730, but we like to go get coffee and walk around downtown for an hour before taking a five minute drive to school. I have my own car but I only really use it on the weekends to drive to Ethan or Ella's house.
"Hey guys! Is today going to be the normal order?" Ella asked. She had just gotten a job at the town cafe, and liked the pay so she does her best to not get into much trouble.
"Yep, and I'll take a sandwich please." Ethan said as his arm draped around my shoulders pulling me closer into his warm body.
"Coming right up, oh Taylor have you gotten a letter from Yale yet?" Ella asked as she handed me my warm cup of coffee.
"Nope but if I do you'll be one of the first to know." I said after a sip of coffee. I had technically finished school last year but I'm now taking some fine arts classes that I still needed to take even though I had already accumulated over 40 credits to graduate. Yale was my first choice and my only choice. yeah yeah, I know that applying to one of the most prestigious schools in the world, and not choosing any other college is crazy, but it has just been a goal of mine for a really long time.
"You'll get accepted. You've never gotten lower then an A on anything, and that could be an understatement." Ethan said over the counter jokingly to Ella. She giggled and handed Ethan his sandwich.
"I'll see you in a few hours!" Ella shouted as we walked out the door.
"Where to now?"I asked
"Lets go to the bridge." He suggested. The bridge is a old rickety steal bridge that is probably over 50 years old. It's a very relaxing place that many people don't find that interesting. As we walked the cold November wind blew towards our backs. This didn't help my long hair which decided to fly everywhere. "Why don't you just put your hair up" Ethan asked
"Maybe because I don't have a hair tie." I said as my shoulder bumped against his upper arm. We finally got to the bridge and took our usual spots on the bridges cold steal ledge.
"I love it here." I announced not really to anyone in particular.
"I love you." he said as he kissed my forehead. Ethan and I have been dating for 4 years. College is scary to both of us, but I truly hope that everything will be okay.
"So we're still going to that party tonight right?"
"You bet" I answered smiling as my now empty cup made it into the small garbage can that was ten feet away. We sat that in a comforting silence for a half an hour or so. Once we got back to Ethan's car warmth swept across my face as the car started up.
Once we pulled up to school, students were already inside getting to their lockers. Ella wouldn't be at school till noon, which meant that hanging with everyone from the cheer leading squad. Not that I don't like them all. I just don't like Rachael's squeaky voice. I know she can't control it, but she can control the volume. Just as I walked up to the she erupted i laughter that would have filled the hallways if it wasn't for 1,000 kids walking through the halls.
"Well hello Tay!" Ashlee said to me. She is always very happy. I'm pretty sure I've only seen her frown at her Grandma's funeral.
"Well hello Ashlee!" I said mimicking her. "how do I owe the pleasure?" I asked as we parted away from the group and headed to my bright red locker.
"Well as long as you are coming to the party tonight, then you don't have to owe me anything." As I opened my locker the Polaroid pictures I'd gathered through the year were spread out on my locker door. One of Ethan after he had won a football game, him with sweaty hair and his uniform still on. I can still remember him that night. He still smelled like he walked out of a lush store. There was a picture of the Pumpkins that Ella and I had carved just a few weekends ago. One of my little brother Peter with a mouth full of Domino's pizza.
"Wow, you sure do have a lot of picture in your locker." Ashlee said as she pulled me from my trance.
"Yeah it's something that I like to do. Taking pictures of positive things can make you forget about a bad day." I said explaining my love for the pictures.
"Gosh you're such a poet." Ashlee said as she was pulled away by her boyfriend Troye.
"Hey Tay" Troye said as he walked past me.
"Hey Troye" I replied. Everyone called me Tay because of Ethan, and I didn't mind that.School went by pretty fast since I only have two classes. I lingered around campus until Ethan got out of school. He dropped me off and I started to prepare for the party. Not much preparation had to be done. Just an outfit change and some extra eye liner.
"How are you honey?" Mom asked as she walked into the door
"I'm doing great. I'm going to go to a party tonight with Ashlee. What time do you want me to be back?"
"Be home by one." She said. My mom was very trusting, granted I never really did anything wrong, she never yelled at me
"Okay thanks" I said as I walked back up stairs.
