The bus rumbled smoothly along the rocky, mountain pass. Dust clouds rolling up from beneath the wheels obscured my vision out the cracked windows.
The rusted bus slammed to a halt. Yelling sounded out from within the sandy storm in a language unknown to me.
Suddenly, the doors flew open. Sand whirled around the dark figure at the entrance, swiftly I slipped to the ground in the back of the bus. The drivers voice bounced off the walls to me but I could hardly comprehend the sound.
Heavy footsteps echoed down the metallic catwalk, my breath caught in my throat as worn leather boots stepped into my line of sight. Black leather clad feet turned in my direction.
Without warning the toe of the strangers boot caught my chin and pushed up roughly. Keeping my eyes to the floor, my heart beat dangerously fast in my chest. A deep African burr rumbled around me. A beast in the form of a man. "Stand up." The calm order didn't register in my foggy mind as I lay trembling at the feet of my potential executioner. "Stand. Up." The rage in his voice made my heart skip a beat. I scrambled to my feet shakily.
Face to the floor, sweat beaded along my forehand ad ran down my neck. "Look. At. Me." Raw anger painted the husky statement.
Dragging my eyes from the floor of my sudden metallic coffin, I tried to stall my impending doom.
Washed out dark blue jeans folded over the tops of his boots. The frayed edges ran around the hem, loops snapping down over his heels. Thick muscley thighs threatened to burst out their denim prison from the seams.
A dusty white T-shirt obscured my view if his abdomen. The materiel stretched desperately over broad shoulders. An old leather jacket ran down the length of his toned biceps only to be cut short at the wrists.
I stilled my eyes at an ebony neck, trying to prolong the inevitable. Thick undesirable fear knotted in my stomach. The steady growl that had been ricocheting from my captors chest snapped and for half a second.
Silence.
In an instant a hand was forcing my jaw upwards. Strong fingers pressed into my cheeks uncomfortably.
Full dark lips were pulled thin in frustration, sharp jaw angled down to my meager height. His nose jutted out proudly and flared in anger. Thick eyebrows were pinched together in a darkened fit of fury. Sharp eyes dug into my soul, promises of pain staggering out of them.
I saw myself reflected in those black pools of hate. Thick ebony hair hanging straight to the middle of my back. Something once so soft now matted in a cold sweat born of fear. Wide blue eyes alive with despair, bathed in an ocean of unshed tears. Standing at a pathetic 5'4 I was dwarfed by the beast if a man that towered before me.
My hands gripped my sides in a desperate attempt to hide my trembling. A deep tenor swarmed the bus, filling every crevice. "Mine" there was no emotion. A cold statement fluttering between the coils of tension.
A sharp sting at the base of my neck beckoned black dots to swirl mischievously around the edge if my vision. My confusion melted away as I felt reality dawn on me.
My hands went to my neck. A syringe blocked my inspection as I pulled it clumsily from my skin. Glaring up at me a singular drop of liquid fell from the pointed needle. Pain blossomed where numbness had previously thrived. I stared into the unapologetic eyes of my captor. Darkness crept around me and for a brief moment, the first second of eternity, something akin to sadness flashed in the eyes of my personal demon. Sleep closed in and I was claimed by the darkness.
