Emeralds P.O.V
So, my names Emerald. So far I've had a pretty crap life. My parents were murdered right in front of my eyes when I was 13.
Flashback
I run away as fast as my little legs can take me before they could catch me aswell.
I took one bag, filled with my piggy bank, two changes of clothes which just happened to be two of the exact same jeans and some pyjamas (what can I say? I'm not exactly a  typical girl) and a tooth brush. I clamber out the window as I here the men coming closer. Jumping to the ground with a thump I sprint away loosing them. I wandered the streets with tears streaming down my face before none other than my bitchy aunt drives past me, just on the way to visit my family like she did every Sunday. She picked me up, scolding me for going out without shoes on. I burst into tears out of anger and frustration. She had no idea what had just happened and decided to scold me about the lack of footwear. I told her numerous times not to go back to the house. I knew it was dangerous and that we would be in danger. She thought I was making it up so, procedeed to drive back there. I didn't follow her into the house..I just waited. Until I heard a piercing scream and a gunshot. I knew it was coming. And I had no way to stop it.
I knew they would come and check for any other people outside so I quickly clambered to the drivers seat. Grabbing the spare key out of the middle compartment and roared the car to life. I tried to remember what my father had taught me. He used to take me out and teach me all the things about driving. Of course I never drove by myself, I always sat on his lap, but that was about to change.
I look at the handle looking thing with the letter beside it, quickly remembering how to reverse. I pushed my foot onto the pedal and I sped backwards too fast ,feeling a rip in my neck. I knew I shouldn'tve have slammed my foot on the pedal but I'm too distracted to care at the moment.
Two men burst through the front door. Their dark, evil eyes settling on me as they start running to the car.
I speed off not knowing where I'm going, just trying to get as far away from them as I can.
Another gun shot goes off, shooting through the windshield, smashing it to smithereens. My arms falter as I try to gain control of the car. I speed away, loosing them. Only to face a new problem. My parents had just been killed, and my aunt. I was driving a car illegally and randomly around the streets. I had nowhere to go. A light bulb goes off in my head, my aunts house!
I pull over the car searching for a street sign. Cargill street! That's not far from her house. My foot hits the pedal once again, speeding off. My neck is in agony and I know I will have to treat it once I reach the house.
I finally make it and sprint towards the door, bag in my hand. I climb to the roof, like I had numerous times when I tried to escape my aunt. And reach the open toilet window. I finally make it in and rush for an ice pack, soothing my neck. Once the pain has gone down a bit I unpack my bag, which only took a couple of seconds due to the lack of clothes.
I collapse on the bed, tears blurring my vision as I comprehend everything that just happened in the past couple of hours. I cry myself to sleep, unaware of what I was to do the next couple of days.
Flashback over

And that's where I am today, I am now 17, still living in this shitty place. But I've moved on from the past. I'm stronger now. Prepared for whatever may come my way.
