Thomas saw bits and pieces of what must have been his previous life flash beneath his eyelids the way lights flash on and off at a rave. He had to concentrate hard, otherwise he may miss them. And he didn't want to miss a thing. Don't ask him how he got roped into this. All he knew was that now that Teresa and Newt were dead, Thomas was feeling more alone than ever and needed to be close to someone. And he'd hoped that in his previous life there would be someone out there. He hoped he was right.
More bits of scenes flashed before him, none of them staying for too long. A flash of water sparkling under the sun, red paint, the sound of laughter and splashing, brown eyes... And then everything seemed to slow down and Thomas could finally catch every little detail.
He saw his mother, the one he'd dreamed about so often. She was there, right in front of him. She was petite, with high cheekbones, silky looking dark brown hair, and deep-set dark brown eyes very much like Thomas's own. She had slim pink lips twisted up in the ghost of a smile and Thomas thought she looked more beautiful than the dream-her he often saw. This one seemed...reaper somehow. More solid. Maybe it was because he knew for sure that this was an old memory of his. Maybe it was just the feeling fizzing up in his chest... Either way, it felt real.
He saw his dad, with Carmel colored hair and slate grey eyes. His father was tall, with sun kissed skin, a broad chest and a bright grin lighting up his face brilliantly. His eyes seemed to glimmer and sparkle even though there was no bright source of light in this memory... His dad seemed so happy. So full of life... This must have been before the Flare got him, then. Back when he was still happy and whole. Thomas cringed to think what the Flare did to his father once it got a hold of him.
The next person Thomas saw was a girl, around the same age as he was in most of the memories. This girl had tan skin, wavy, thick-looking dark brown hair, and the darkest pair of brown eyes he had ever seen before. They were almost mesmerizing, they seemed so endless. Like they could go on and on forever. Thomas feels an instant sense of familiarity with her... He doesn't know what exactly it is, he can't quite put his finger on it, but he feels he knows her very well...
He sees another girl, who seems to be about a year or two younger than the previous girl. This girl has the most colorful hair Thomas had ever seen. Her hair is flame red and wavy and long and soft looking. She has skin so pale and flawless it could easily be mistaken for actual porcelain. She has dark brown eyes too, wide and warm and slightly wet. Teary? Why were they teary? Was the girl sad? The thought didn't sit well with him...
Thomas also sees a little girl, probably the littlest girl he's ever seen. She couldn't be much older than six or seven in these memories. She had peachy-colored skin and long dark blonde hair that fell to the small of her (very small) back. She was ridiculously short, even for her current age, with a slim circle-shaped face. She had brown eyes too, probably the biggest eyes Thomas has ever seen. They remind him of a puppy dog's. And they're framed by the longest dark brown eyelashes. She was smiling brightly too and then she let out a light little girlish laugh and Thomas swore it sounded like bells ringing. He felt a sudden surge of protectiveness towards her. Then it happened. The word 'sisters' popped into his mind as he watched more memories flash by of the little and older girls. He had sisters? He had a family? An actual family? The thought sent his heart soaring in his chest. He had a family...
Bits and pieces flashed in his mind, all coming and going slightly faster than the one before. He saw Teresa and his sisters sitting down and talking together at what looked like a dinner table. Teresa was young in this memory, barely eight years old herself, but her hair was still long and jet black and her eyes were still an electric sort of blue, and even at the age of eight she seemed to observe everything closely.. So he had known Teresa back in his old life too? Why wasn't he surprised?
