Percy felt his heart shatter into a million shards. The girl of his life, of whom he was hoping to marry broke his heart. He still remembers the very moment when Annabeth had mind as well ripped it out his heart and spit on it.
**Flashback**
It was after the Giant war, after the seven had defeated the giants and Gaea, after the devastation and death that walked hand in hand with war. They were now on Olympus the gods were granted them gifts like they had after the Titan War. Piper was given immortality to serve by her mother's side as minor goddess of persuasion. Jason too was given immortality, and become the minor god of winds. Leo was given Calypso's freedom and the ability to work in his father's forgers whenever he so desired. Hazel's gift was that she would be allowed to live her life and not return back to the underworld. Frank was given a bow and a promise from Apollo that he would help him expand his archery skills.
Percy was offered immortality but turned it down, for he had no wish to live as an immortal to watch everyone he loved, his mother, and many others die as he refused to age. All he wanted was to to be with Annabeth. For he could never abandon her, through all that they had experienced together from when he was twelve unto the present, they had grown closer than anyone could have imagined. So Percy , humbly declined a gift.
Then Annabeth was offered immortality, and Percy's heart dropped in his chest. 'Would she take the chance at immortality? Would she leave him?' These thoughts rushed in and out of Percy's mind as if predicting what was next. The words "I accept my lords." came out of her lips smooth as silk, the room so quiet that everyone inside must have heard the sound of Percy's heart getting crushed. Annabeth, therefore became the minor goddess of Architecture, as everyone in the room looked at Percy worriedly not knowing what was yet to come.
**End of Flashback**
Percy desperately needed to clear his mind. Having heard rumors of a gang of monsters in Virginia that constantly harassed mortals without their knowledge, no one else seemed to care. Of course they were all caught up in the celebrations of an end to the war, Percy wasn't quite in the mood to celebrate. So he stepped out of the great hall and did a mighty taxi call that'd put any purebred New Yorker to shame. Almost immediately a black figure landed in front of him.
'Yo what's up boss? I heard that you saved the world again! Does that mean I get donuts?' Percy smiled as the misgivings of his beloved Pegasus, and told him he needed to head South. Once he reached Norfolk, Virginia, he noticed a whole group of scaly men with colored skin varying from purple to yellow. The rumors had brutally underestimated the "small group" of monsters in Virginia, there were at least fifty of these creatures.
Knowing that he shouldn't, Percy stealthily walked towards them and tried to hear what they were saying.
A large gruff monster was talking. He had yellow skin that somewhat reminded Percy of highlighters and small orange spikes erupting from his shoulders and chest. "Our lord shall be pleased when we clear the camp from those petty halfgods, he shall reward us and look upon us with pride instead of the disgust we see in his eyes daily. We have failed him twice before and we shall not do so again." The beast raised his clawed hand into the air and cheered followed by the large roar of his companions behind him. Percy saw this distraction as a chance to step in. Sneaking up close behind them he took them on charging, slashing, hacking at them. Imagining that they were the embodiment of the emotions that haunted his mind and made him angrier than belief, and feel more despair than one could ever imagine.
He had already killed thirty when one stabbed a spear made of a metal Percy had never seen before through his shoulder, he fell to his knees in pain and broke off the shaft of the weapon, if he pulled it out it would only do more damage.
He struggled to his feet, dizzy and with black spots dancing in his vision as blood drained from his shoulder, he stumbled and was stabbed through the stomach with a dagger. There were so many... they were just to much. Percy fell and knew that he would not be able to stand up as poison from the dagger spread through his system. They continued impaling him in multiple spots. Percy knew that couldn't allowed these monsters to continue on the path towards camp and knew what he must do. He pulled all of his energy together and focused on the ocean water nearby, slowly dragging a twenty foot wave out of the water and dropped it on to the mass of monsters that remained. twisting them around in a huge spinning ball of water he watched as every last one drowned and evaporated into a murky brown dust.
Percy let the water drop and laid his head back, the poison emitting from the blade burned and threatened to make him black out, blood continued to flood out of his shoulder as Percy groaned and staggered trying to stand up. He made it to his knees and fell back as his vision darkened. A tear fell out of his eye as he knew he wouldn't make it.
Donning on a sad smile, Percy whispered two words and drifted off into the darkness.
