Slow Dance

Have you ever watched kids

On a merry-go-round?

Or listened to the rain

Slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?

Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down,

Don't dance so fast,

Time is short,

The music won't last.

Do you run through each day

On the fly?

When you ask 'How are you'

Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done

Do you lie in your bed

With the next hundred chores

Running through your head?

You better slow down,

Don't dance so fast,

Time is short,

The music won't last.

Ever told your child

'We'll do it tomorrow'?

And in you haste

Not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,

Let a good friendship die,

Cause you ever had time

To call and say 'Hi'?

You'd better slow down,

Don't dance so fast,

Time is short,

The music won't last.

When you run so fast

To get somewhere,

You miss half the fun

Of getting there.

When you worry and hurry

Through your day,

It's like an unopened gift

Thrown away.

Life is not a race,

Do take is slower,

Hear the music,

Before the song is over.

in the New York Hospital.

WAIT!!!!!

I got some comments saying that this was not true, that it was just false. So searched it up on google, and it came up with a link to a poet's website! The truth is that this poem wasn't at all written by and ill girl at hospital, it was written by a poet named David L. Weatherford!

It's really sad though. When I read all of those articles, I was literally crying. I couldn't believe someone would even do something like that!

I still think it's a beautiful poem, but don't give the credit to the 'terminally ill young girl'. Because that was just a story to get people to read, vote, forward, whatever. The true person who wrote this is David L. Weatherford. So if you still love the poem as much as I do, it's David L. Weatherford you should be thanking, not 'a girl with cancer'. I'm very sorry for any inconveniences, but I didn't know about this either. I recieved and email, and got so carried away I got tricked into thinking it was real. But I've now uncovered the truth, and I hope you did too.

Please pass this on to everyone you can, because they deserve to know the real magic behind this poem. Thank you.
